Some engine bay pictures

So I took a few pictures of the engine bay and I am still in a learning phase with this car.

I've been able to figure out that it has a upgraded starter from a BMW 320 (cranks much better then my 71) and also seems to have a newer alternator.  The part numbers on the sticker have wore off so I'm not really sure what type of alternator it is I know it is a Bosch brand though.

The carburetor is a solex and my idle is currently pretty high...I have to figure out how to reduce that.

all in good time.

...and that exhaust manifold isn't original either. The carb is very easy to take off and apart, I remember I did it without referring to any shop manual or forum thread, so it must be real easy. Clean with a spray can of carb cleaner, reassemble, the idle adjustment is one simple screw.

Good luck!

Someone has installed the same value fuses (all blue) in the fuse block. Look at the sticker to the right for values. IIRC, only one should be red (16amp) and the rest white (8 amp).

Yeah...saw that...I have loads of the red and white ones.  My electricall system is going to need some sorting.  Turn signals, head lights brake lights all non operation at the moment...

pull the harzard switch up and the flashers blinked for a bout 20 seconds and then stopped.  Sigh.

i have a list of things to fix....electrical is on there.  But I’ll be putting it off for now.

I have the same desire to get into that phase of this project as going to the dentist.

Yeah...not sure what it is....leads from four pipes to one. Looks cool.  I was thinking of taking it off and having it coated. TBD.

As for the carb:

PO cleaned / rebuilt it.   Think the engine needs to have the timing check, valves adjusted and then (once at operating temp) I’ll adjust the idle on the carb.
