About this blog

Long awaited assembly!

Starting today 2/5/2019

I bought this car about 10 years ago from the original owner.  It was a1974 automatic with 109,000 miles on it.  All but 2 years of its life was spent here in the Central Oregon high dessert ( 99.9% rust free )  I dissembled and had it painted 7 years ago.  I have owned other 2002's in the meantime but this one was always planed to be the keeper.  I will be documenting the assembly on this blog, it's not going to be concourse by any means but a fun driver that I plan to keep as long as I can drive.

Back at it.

Back at it, life got in the way but plan to keep this moving forward until completion.

Enjoying my days!

This is getting fun installing everything for the final time.  Thank you Andrew for the brake line kit!

Getting very close.

This has been a long project that I have been committed to "enjoy the process" and I truly have.  I started this in 2009 it has been quite a journey and one that I have really enjoyed.  I have been fortunate to have a clean dry place to work on it and let it sit when other things took priority.  I will be driving it this spring!  Thank you to all that have helped along the way and the FAQ for all the valuable information and support! Progress

The wiring is sorted with everything removed that I don't need (I hope.)  I need to tie in all the new components before wrapping it up.  Headliner in, not perfect but I am happy with it.  I will start putting in the our 2002 Underground parts soon.

First drive

B6FAC463-3AD7-4899-84AF-94BBF553B0D8.mov     First drive for this car in more than 20 years, about 1 mile total just to test the systems.  It ran fantastic thanks to a Metric Mechanic 3.2l m20.

Enjoying the drive

Follow up, I did get my car on the road this spring with some short shakedown drives to check and double check everything.  I do take it on longer drives now on the back roads of Central Oregon when I can and love how it runs, drives and sounds.  It turned out better than I could have hoped for, all the hard work has its rewards.  I would encourage anyone who takes on any level of rebuild to hang in there and see it through if at all possible.
