About this blog

So I had a blog for a while, which I deleted when I had a hard time keeping up with, lol.

Now, I'd like to give it a go again.

Be aware purists,it' s gonna be a racer with a huge cage. I'll try keeping it as original as possible, apart from it being a restomod (suspension for instance).

Thanks for being interested! * Picture is when I bought it, stationed in the Netherlands*

Back from the soda blaster

Hey just a short post, the car came back from the soda blaster and we moved so that kind of delayed the process.    First of all some photos of the soda blasting process:      So that's that, pretty satisfied with the results and the one new door.  Now I'll be needing to do some more patches and body work I'm afraid, as the lines are not completely right.    Here you can see the tailgate lines not matching with the other lines of the car, just as the tailgate itself's not fitting right. I also think, just like the soda blaster told me, that the car might got hit on the rear left sight ever.      So I started working on this today and it went pretty good actually, the lines as well as the panel gap got fixed in combination with the tailgate.      Now I'll have to finish some other lines and sheet metal. But I guess that'll be all for now, ongoing project... Keep you updated!   Cheers, JP

Some progress on the body

hey guys!   some progress, not much since it's winter but it's better than no progress at all...    I made a custom separation in the car in-between the car itself and the trunk. That was a true pain in the ass considering the roll cage of my car...       The tailgate itself fits great with the new rear panel, which I'm satisfied with.    I purchased this construction from a guy I know which allows me to rotate the car a 360 degrees while hanging in the air (just need to lift it some more: see photo).      I'll also need to do some more small patches (some more welding), mostly on the bottom of the car.    Also got this body 'kit' for the 2002 with plastics, and thoughts?      I hope to bring her to the media blaster in about 2 weeks to finally make an ending to all the body work     One more cool photo:      If you have any advice or recommendation, let me know!   Cheers, Jan-Pieter

She's got a nose!

Hey guys!   The rear replacement panel got welded in on the left side of the car. Also I have been the lucky owner of the (probably last) left inner wing for a while now, which has also been welded on the car.        I've also finally taken care of the nose, that needed a lot doing as well. The type 1 kidney has been installed since the nose was a type 2.  Some small, not too heavy tubes have been welded into the engine bay and and are attached to the nose as well. Now she I very stable and solid.          Finally I have been taken care of the dashboard frame... which had been removed by a previous owner for some reason.  More work coming soon, hoping to finally bring the car to the media blaster within max 1/2 months from now.      Thanks, JP

Recent progress on the car's body

Hey guys,   I've been up to 'some' more body work on the car. A lot needed doing ever since, so I decided to just get back to it.  The floor panels were totally waisted so those were replaced. The rear panels were OK but needed some hammering   The rear end of the car was entire replaced since it would be easier to just cut if off all the way then do the rear sides and rear end etcetera individually.  I'll be doing some other small adjustments and fabbing, which I am still learning by doing, together with welding the 'new' nose and dashboard frame.  I hope to deliver the car in about two months for media blasting.  The car will need some more doing, but I'm starting to get more optimistic and excited for a nice body in the end.    Thinking about going for the M20 conversion     Thanks, JP

Current Affairs

Like the title says these are some pictures of what I have done past half year since I bought the car, it's not that much considering how much my work tempo improved but I can see porgress now. I will need to replace the nose with the 'new' one I have already, I will also need to replace the back after an accident which 'cracked' the backside of the car. My 'new' back is nearly ready to go back onto the car considering what it looks like right now. Also the floor panel passenger sight front needs doing, the replacement panel rear side left and I wanna, finally, do the rear axle left side like I did the right side. Since I became very enthiousiastic again I am hoping to make some good progress coming period. I bought the car just after the summer, so finally some nice wheather and light outside.   I can' t wait for the car to get blasted, I will paint it myself at home and then start on the suspension.   Keep you updated when I' ll make some progress, cheers JP

What it was like

Here some pictures of the worst parts of the car, it's my first restoration so it's bad enough for me) I became better at welding, metal work and so on. Stuff is going better now, although not everythng at the beginning of the restoration went smooth. Not the worst car because I've seen much worse out here I think. I am still very satisfied with my purchase. Cheers, JP
