500 Mile Tune-up and suspension update!

Car is running great.  Rick at North Bay Bavarian was able to adjust timing and HP is greatly improved from the first tune.  The project is never ending but the car runs better than I would have expected.  Pulls strong all the way to 6500.  The Schrick 292 was a good choice for around town and highway balance.  It's been a better than 2 year adventure with the Bristol 69' but I couldn't be happier with how it all came out in the end.   Also got the Ground Control coilovers put in all a

Getting close

Engine compartment restored

Rick at North Bay Bavarian had my engine compartment spruced up to all it’s original glory.  Next he is working on the engine rebuild and subsequent Jenvey EFI conversion.  His shop does phenomenal work for anyone located in Northern California.

Dash finally done!

After roughly 6 months got the dash back from Just Dashes.  They did a great job as expected.  Also had them put a 5 speed indicator to match the technology.  I had Finishline interiors in San Jose rework the little side vent pieces as mine were destroyed.  They also cleaned up all under panels.  Really pleased with how everything turned out.  It’s not cheap but it really does look like a new stock dash near as I can tell.

She got her new kicks!

Back from the shop with a rear drum upgrade and new kicks.  Still not sold yet on the front stance.  May install coilovers to bring her down a bit.  Aw, what to do, what to do.  It never ends......

Back from Upholstery

Finally got the seats and carpet all done.  Took awhile but happy with the results.  Thanks Esty again.   ABC Upholstery in San Jose, CA did the seats from GAHH material.  Dash is in bad shape and still deciding what to do with that.   At least we are making progress.  Love these cars.

Chapter 3 - Interior

Finally got Esty's carpet kits installed.  She made the recommendation on color combo for mats, great choice for Bristol exterior and Marine Blue interior.  Can't thank her enough for the quality.  Really liked how it turned out albeit had a challenge with the transmission tunnel portion.     Feb 16th - with the car back from paint, I'm starting the long process of complete interior redo.  Got one door panel installed.       While the car is still bein

She's in the booth

After 4 months of prep, she's finally in the booth getting her new coat.  Hard to tell how close they were able to match that original Bristol.  We shall see once I eventually get her outside.

Chapter 2 - Exterior

Paint and body work has begun.  I'll post photos as I get them.  They'll be taking the paint down to the metal so should be some good pics along the way.  Thanks for following. October 11th - Mostly down to bare metal, still some areas to remove.  Typical rust spots located.    December 1st - Added some shots of new grilles and bumper cleanup.     December 18th - Base coat epoxy primer going on the bare metal.  Next step regular primer.  Will post towards the end of Dece

Chapter 1 - Mechanical

As I started down the road of my BMW 2002 restoration I wanted to document what I have done and will be doing.  I want to start by expressing how impressed I am with this forum.  Every time I post or need help I receive it, this truly a lesson in “ask and ye shall receive”.  So a big thank you to one and all for the comments and feedback on various topics.  Being new to the BMW world, but always wanting to have been part of it, makes this forum a truly invaluable tool.   I found my 196
