  1. On April 23rd, Clarion, in conjunction with Clarion Builds’ team racing driver Chris Forsberg, and New Century BMW, brought Clarion Builds’ freshly finished 1974 BMW 2002 to the track at Adams Motorsports Park in Riverside, California to stretch the car’s legs and give both the press and program partners a chance to admire and enjoy the fruits of several months of painstaking work turning the icon into the pristine gem that it is.

The event kicked off promptly at 10:00 AM with Clarion’s head of marketing, Allen Gharapetian, and Clarion Builds program supervisor, Jubal Leierer, greeting the attendees and providing a heartfelt shot-out to all of the partners that contributed to making Clarion Builds’ first project a remarkable success. The day was packed full of events designed to engage the attendees among which a chance to get the “in-car experience” with Chris Forsberg, a time-trial pitting the vintage BMW against its 2015 successor, a well-catered Bavarian-inspired lunch, a go-kart challenge, and an opportunity to interview, take photographs and be part of the official video! The festivities didn’t end until the kind folks running Adams Motorsports Park politely asked us to wrap it up around 5:00 PM.

The overall excitement for the Clarion Builds program was felt across the board hearing what the attendees had to say about the event and the iconic 2002. More than a dozen press from leading blogs and magazines including AutoWeek, MotorTrend, European Car, Super Street, Wrecked Magazine, Left Lane News, and more were all salivating at the thought of getting some seat time in our four-wheeled piece of motoring history and everyone got their wishes fulfilled. We expect every member of the media present at the event to write a feature about the car.

Seemed like there was one common question in everyone’s head: “What’s next for Clarion Builds?.”

Finally got to work on the car after some time off. Not to familiar how Tunerstudio works yet but the engine started at the first attemp. Seems like it's runnign good for one that didn't turnover over 6 years... If anybody has some pointers on a basemap for Megasquirt please feel free to pitch in.

Getting really excited about tuning and dyno.

Video is actually the second start because first one phone was off...

I have owned over 20 2002's in my life and have owned this 69 for over 10 years. I purchased it from my dad in 2004. I drove it as my daily and then started doing driver schools in it with a fresh, cam'ed Tii motor making 150 hp.

So..one year ago I sold that Tii motor and decided to go for an m20 swap.

Why sell a nice Tii motor? I was bitten by the track bug and was becoming more and more frustrated with the low power of my little M10. The m10 was a great motor but to get more HP I would need to do some serious work and I just was not that into do another M10 build.

Why m20? A friend had an s52 swap done on his e30 and gave me his m20 with 100k on the clock. Sounds like a good start right? His swap was done at Motorsoprt Services in Deland FL. The owner, Rick has been a long time friend and said he could help me with most of the work on my swap.

This situation is getting better for me right? Well...as took the car apart I found rust, shocker, right?

After lots of rust repair the car got to Motorsports Services for fabrication to the body and engine fitment .

Seeing the M20 apart, Rick discovered it had a cracked head. I sourced a head with 20k on it and did a full rebuild and new cam.

So far, here is my list of things done. (So far)

    -Nose cut and strengthend

    -Rebuilt head

    -engine bay painted

-everything under the was blasted and painted

    -Turner chip

    -motor mounts from only02.com

    -284 cam

    -cold air intake

-VW mk2 Jetta radiator and 10 inch fan

    -e30 coolant bottle

    -larger oil cooler

-Enlarged tunnel with E36 transmission and custom shifter and trans mount

    -Single mass flywheel

    -Sachs race clutch

    -stock e30 driveshaft

    -e21 LSD

-blasted and painted pedal Box and all new hardware from IE

-custom dash cluster with VDO gauges

This 2002 already had Tii struts and brakes along with a tii booster. It also has Billy's and Coilovers, big sway bar up front and adjustable in rear, stress bars front and rear, battery in the back, race seats, harnesses and a roll bar, Zender flares and Epsilon wheels before the swap.

. Sorry, the pics are out of order. I will update pics when we get further along with the process.

    -

  3. For those following my shenanigans, I got my field Tii started for the first time in many years this afternoon! It didn't protest much minus the starter not really feeling like playing nice, plus needing a little more cranking juice from the truck. She started up and ran rough down low I'm assuming because of having no coolant in her the IP richened way up. She sounds nice and healthy though other than that! Now to put the radiator back in and fix the brakes then I can go for a spin! And for your viewing pleasure an HD video!!

Well this past week things started rolling along.

Started out by replacing the master cylinder, replaced a brake hard-line that had been broken at the caliper and replaced a caliper bolt that was missing for some reason. Go figure. Nice to see that someone had installed braided brake lines. Saves me a little time and cash.... Bonus.....

This made the car a driver. So over to a friends shop I went to use his lift to change fluids.

Lots of fine metal attached to the transmission plug/magnet. It appears the 1st and 2nd syncros are pretty shot (driving assessment). I might still need to bleed a little air out of the slave. Clutch starts to engage as soon as you begin to bring the pedal off the floor. Shift linkage is "all over the place".

Engine oil looked good. Outside of the differential is caked with oil based grime, but diff oil didn't look bad.

Car felt a little splashy in the corners. Speedometer works, but odometer doesn't. That will be a one evening fix from what I have read.

Once I got the car up on the lift and I got under it, I found that the ball joints and tie rod ends looked good as do most of the suspension bushings. But the drivers side sway bar bolt is missing. I guess I will have to move sway bars up the list to sooner rather than later. No wonder there was some body roll.

I didn't expect to see much rust, and there isn't much. A little at the drivers floor board by the pedal box, a little at the passenger side rear seat and a little at the spare tire well. I'll be looking for replaceent pieces.

Replaced the license plate lights.... They were broken. Cheap plastic.... Hmm.

Some fresh fuel, carb cleaner and fuel treatmet and the car runs much better than expected. Seems to run better everytime I drive it.

Float is missing from the brake/clutch reservoir, so the brake failure light is on permanent... Well, was on until I unplugged.

Stock steering wheel is a bit large. Steering feels ok.... But then I haven't driven a 2002 for over 25 years, so my reference base line may not be very accurate.

Seat belt retractors are a mess. I'll have to tear into them one evening in the coming weeks.

Small tear in the headliner.. Perfectly good headliner except for the tear. The small things.

Lights all seem to work. Not sure about the windshield washer pump yet. I'll look at in the coming weeks.

Took a close look at the tires, now that it is a driver. Three different types and one has a checked sidewall. Move wheels and tires to the top of the list.

So the next items to accomplish:

    * Sway Bars - A must. I will talk to Steve at Blunt.

    * Wheels and tires: I really wanted to wait on the wheels and tires, but the condition of the exiting tires has me concerend.. And I really dislike spending money twice. So, I am leaning towards a set of the the Rota RB 15x7's. But I am not sure if they will fit w/ 205/50/15 tires without body mods.

    * Source/find: Brake/clutch reservoir cap w float

    * Source/find: a couple of pieces of body trim

    * Figure out how to properly attach the ends of the bumpers and align bumpers.

    * Source/find a nice pair of side view mirors.

The condition of the transmission syncros and the shift linkage loosness has me really thinking about a transmission replacement.... Which means five speed.... Which means M20 swap. So, I'm looking for an M20 motor w Getrag 260 five speed and associated misc parts. I'll work the stock four speed until I find the right parts....

    * The brakes on this car work really well... But, I already have a set of hubs, so will move forward w the bigger front brake mod. Wich means eventually i will need to mod the rear brakes.

    * LSD-Will be necessary for the M20 swap.

So that is where things are at.

So...I have owned the car for about 3 years, I found her living in a backyard in the City of Glendora. Before I bought her I had a very rusty 1968 1600. The 1600 had some really nice parts on it, 5 spd, LSD, big brakes, big clutch, etc. After deciding one 2002 was enough I swaps all the goodies to the Golf 2002 and sold the 1600.

I drove the car for a few weeks after rebuilding the head and realized the car needed way to much work to be a daily. But at about that time I met my wife to be and started working on the home I would soon own.

Through out the remodel and construction I would buy parts for the 2002 and store then away in bins in my attic. The motor be used is a M42 I rebuilt in college, the motor came back to me when I purchased the 1600, which I originally sold to my friend.

The motor is quite nice, built with Pauter rods, Schrick cams, JE pistons, and the only M42 head Ireland Engineering ever ported/polished that I know of.

With the recent purchase of my 1999 Dodge 2500 Cummins, I no longer need my 1998 Ford Ranger (my daily), so the 2002 will become my fair weather daily.

So all this work started with intention of replacing/rebuilding the front suspension, but with a little persuasion from my brother the whole engine came out.

    Complete list of planned work:

    1) M42 engine and Tranny Swap

    2) Rebuild front end, install IE sway bars

    3) Rear disc brake conversion

    4) Custom built/IE exhaust

Progress will be slow but steady, as I just had a baby daughter a month ago.

    Hello people,

So i am a big BMW enthusiast, I've owned several BMW's and always desired a 2002 Coupe. I looked for 2002's and realised quite quickly that they were extremely expensive for a good one. fast forward a few years and was stumbling my way through the classifieds as you do... and i came across a 2000 touring 1973 74,000 km's which had begun to be restored but the person was selling to fund an impending house purchase. not to mention the fact that he had 4-5 other vintage cars in his driveway/garages.

First thoughts... I Always wanted a 2002 and to be honest has never seen a 2000 roundy, anyway i went to view it which involved a good drive north in Norway and a ferry trip. When i turned up it was leaking some oil and the timing was off. but it started looked good and i fell in love with it. Probably not the most sensible to buy a car purely as you love it but turned out to be not so bad. The previous owner had done the welding work but still required a lot of work to make roadworthy.

Now i shall let some photos do the talking.

    Pre/Post Welding.

    So.....

I have purchased a complete stage 2 upgrade for the front and rear subframes from Ireland Engineering which i am waiting on delivery. Those guys seem to have a very good reputation and so far excellent customer service.

Plan is to build a race car (esque) car to enjoy on the B roads and a few track days.

Thanks for looking and hope to keep the updates coming throughout the duration.!

Please comment/discuss i always like feedback positive or negative :)

Okay, so I bought this "flat black" 1974 2002 a month ago. Haven't gotten around to doing anything other than lurking yet, and I figured I'd start a blog.

    What you can expect:

This won't be some concourse winning numbers-matching classic.

This won't be a full restore.

This won't be a crazy engine build/swap in detail.

This won't be a professionally photographed visually stunning photo-blog.

    This won't be a 100% diy built-not-bought car.

This is will be mildly hacked together car. Not be intention, but due to constraints.

This will be a daily driver(unless I somehow get another car anytime soon)

This car will be street parked, if I had a garage I could use, I would.

I will probably abuse the carp out of this thing.

Things will be broken, and at times I may just choose to live with it.

When ever possible I will try to fix things myself. I will try to document this, but sometimes I will suck at it. (both the documenting and fixing)

At times I may call in the professionals, due to time/lack of skill constraints, but my budget is so very limited.

If any of the above bothers you, well this may not be the best blog for you....

However all are welcome, and I will take all well meaning advice to heart.

    About me:

I am broke-ass student, who for some demented reason has a passion for cars (I blame watching way to much top gear in my teens). This is my second car. My last car was an e28 that I bought for $1,5000. I dumped another $1,500 into maintenance and got rear ended, insurance gave me $3600, and at this point I have spent more than that into this car. I have extremely limited mechanical experience, but hey how hard can things get....

    On to the car!:

The car is an originally red 1974 2002. I am almost certain that this car has been used as a parts car stripped down and then abandoned, and then someone had the genius idea to revive it. The odo reads 44,341 (totally useless information). The engine has been replaced at some known point by an m10 from a 320i (supposedly has 70k at swap, now 80k) It sounds like it has a street cam. It has an weber 32/26 carb with a water choke, and push start ignition. (I get a big red button says engine start, and some airplane style toggle switches) The coolness of this is somewhat canceled out by the fact I can't seem to get the idle mixture screw and water choke to behave as to get a idle around 1k with a warm engine and a clean one push cold start. Oh well. There's some crazy loud exhaust system on there.

The wiring on this car is best described as a mess, I have wiring not tied down and running allover the place. Random connectors not hooked up to anything hanging from all over.

The interior is mostly non-existent. I have no front door cards, but I do have rears. The dash is cracked, but not horrible. The windshield gasket is cracked to hell and leaks when it rains. The front seats are miss-matched cloth one black, one purplish. I have no shift knob. The headliner droops and is filled with rips When I bought the car, the passenger seat handle and window crank were missing now replaced, still missing the A pillar window knob. The rears black vinyl that has at least one big rip in it.

The body has some rust(understatement) I have speed holes in the trunk in the spare tire space. The floor panels have been "repaired" at various different times by amateurs. Theres clearly visible patching done on the driver side floor panel, and the passenger side patch is riveted not welded in.... From the rip in the rear seat I can see the ground. However, the frame rails, the wheel arches, and the rear strut structure seem sound! California car FTW?

The body has been badly spray painted flat black, the diving board bumpers are missing, as is the chrome belt line and lower trim are gone. My passenger side mirror is missing( I hear these cars did not come with one in the USA, but I am drilled for one) My drivers side mirror goes out of adjustment by the wind every time I drive on the freeway.

By now, you are probably thinking wow this car has some problems, but I actually left quite a bit out. Over all I love my car. One day it will be amazing, for now its a wonder.

    Done:

Replace gas tank, and filler neck

Fix brakes * not quite actually done, but drivable

    Fix idle

Passenger side window crank and door handle installed.

Replaced water pump, thermostat, engine heat sensor

    Todo:

Fix brakes properly ( leaks at left rear cylinder, and possibly master) Needs new brake shoes.)

    Replace head gasket/valve guides/Piston Orings.

    Fix cold start problem.

    Replace heater blower

Fix heater core? Was working just no blower, but it stopped yesterday....

    Aliment

Tire balance( seller told me that one of the front tires need balancing, I sort of can't be bothered because I hate these tires, but if I am going to keep them....)

    Wishlist:

Sound system (there's holes cut for speakers in rear hat shelf, and in kicker panel)

muffler replacement( I sort of don't want to do this, but it attracts too much attention, and I feel like I am going to be going deaf on the freeway. If I do add a sound system I think I will have to do this.)

Big brake upgrade, if I have to spend money on brakes, I might as well make them bigger right? Probably won't happen due to cost.

5 speed, I wish I had the funds.

Engine swap in my dreams, but honestly, the car is fast enough to have fun right now. Any faster, and I risk killing myself, with my per-despostion for taking stupid risks, and enjoyment of WOT.

There are many ways to advertise to your customers, and you should probably diversify and hit most of them. However, if you are only going to pick one of them, make sure you use digital marketing. In this day and age, people go online to find everything they need and want. They search the internet for new products and services to use, and it is easier than ever to find out whether or not your friends recommend a product. This is why it is so important to focus on digital marketing. But there are also some things you do not want to do. Thanks to Forbes, we have three “do nots” of digital marketing.

    Do not avoid planning

One of the things you should always do is have a plan. Unfortunately, most businesses start their marketing without a plan and, instead, just buy an ad here or post something online whenever they feel like. By making a plan, you will save a lot of time and money. No more wasting time on ads you haven’t thought much about. Rather, you will make a plan about what needs to be released and where, and then you’ll follow a schedule of when to do it.

Do not expect too much too soon

One big problem is that people expect their marketing campaigns to have immediate results rather than being willing to wait a couple of weeks or months for things to improve. You need to be online before people can find you, and often that means posting a lot of content and waiting for it to catch on. It will take time, but eventually, you’ll see improvement. Of course, you’ll see quicker improvements if you use pay per call marketing campaigns and let affiliates do a lot of the content-production for you.

    Do not be uninformed

It is important that you know what is going on, especially with the marketing campaign you choose. If you have chosen to hire an ad agency, you need to stay on top of what they are doing. If you are going with pay per call, it is important that you know which ones are and are-not working for you. It will help refine your marketing in the future and will help you see a lot more progress.

If you want to have more results with your digital marketing in the future, make sure you avoid these do-nots and are prepared to make changes in your future.

It's about time I started a thread for this car.

I picked up this '02 from Carlos at Condor Speed Shop down here in Florida in October 2014. My turbo e30 had just been totalled & I was searching for something new. This popped up and I found it tough to say no. The car is a 1973 malaga 2002 with unknown mileage. The m10 it came with was supposedly “built”; apparently it had cams & some head work.

The car when I bought it had been sitting for a few years. Somebody before Carlos had decided to paint the hood, roof, and trunk with house paint in a poor attempt to stall the spread of some rust. Hopefully I'll get around to refreshing the body later this year.

Next I pulled the old m10. It only took a couple of minutes to get out.

    M10 removed:

    16309174799_a056f38785.jpg

Next I cleaned the car with a pressure cleaner; I rolled it out of the shop & snapped a few pics.

    16495440285_9a047a368c.jpg

Of course I had to test fit my old RS's!

    16469440066_c9d5dfd467.jpg

And then I decided to widen them a little......so to help them fit I ordered some turbo flares for the car.

After thinking my options over & perusing a few good threads, I decided to drop in my old turbo m20 motor. Before I dropped it in I'd do all new seals/gaskets and refresh it. SO I ordered my parts & once they were on their way I started prepping the motor/chassis.

The wiring harness was an easy enough task. After stripping the body harness of all the old loom I was able to trace the wires back a few feet to see their original color. Using the “6 does go into 2” DIY, I was able to locate the wires that I needed and wire them up to an e30 c101 body harness side plug. Then I ran a few new wires, like the fuel pump +12v wire, and labeled them all.

I ended up using Sin City mounts, which place the motor pretty high up. I had a very tough time getting these to work, and after exchanging many emails with the company I had apparently been sent the wrong mounts, which explained why they didn't work. I was getting tired of waiting around though, so I ended up modifying the subframe to make these work. I had to push the passenger subframe holes out about an inch and then modify the drivers side motor mount.

    Said motor mounts:

I decided to mess around and run barrels as lips on my old RS's to see what it would look like on the car

Drilled & tapped the compressor housing for a barbed nipple instead of the dumb press in plastic fitting it came with

    16494436072_742c9cef35.jpg

The transmission tunnel widening made this swap nearly impossible. I realize that not a lot of people run a g260 transmission because it requires a "little bit" of extra hammering, but I didnt realize just how much that was until I got everything in place.

Of course I'm gonna need some great bushings to run on this car to support the m20 and keep everything from falling apart........

I test fitted the turbo flares to motivate me to finish the swap lol

While the motor wasn't in the car I figured it would be a good idea to refresh all the seals & rotating parts on the driveline. So I installed a new rear main seal, timing belt, SS brake/clutch lines, new center support bearing for the driveshaft, new guibo, a fresh, non cracked oil pan, I resealed the whole transmission(input, output shafts and the shifter selector rod seal), all new turbo manifold gaskets, fuel pressure regulator, and a variety of other things.

  4. blog-0215730001423239637.jpgBought a local 1973 2002 project car after searching for several months (the car was also on Ebay). Pretty rough around the edges but very solid structurally and it also has a strong running Tii engine. Now the fun begins.....I am looking to do a high quality restoration but do not want to go overboard and do a full concours job. I intend to drive the car as a summertime weekend ride.

    The good:

-Strong running Tii engine. Starts right up and good compression and power.

-4 speed Tii manual (the car was originally an automatic car but the previous owner swapped in the 4 speed when he installed the Tii engine)

-Completely rust free undercarriage and shock towers

    -Blue exterior/black interior with sunroof

    -Decent condition on the bumpers

    -No aftermarket mods

    The bad:

-Rust on the left front fender, rockers and rear wheel arches. Old faded paint

-Cheesey cheap front recaro type seats

    -Cracks in the dash

    -Suspension needs complete refurbishment

    -Brakes need complete refurbishment

    -Needs new carpet and headliner

    -Needs all new exterior trim

My plan is to keep it very close to stock with a few tasteful updates:

-Bilstein HD shocks with H&R springs

    -Front strut bar

-Wilwood Superlight front calipers with 320i vented rotors

-Rota RB or OS Mesh 15x7 wheels with Yokohama S drive tires 195/50/15

-OEM front seats or maybe Recaros if I can find a good deal on a pair

    -Nardi wood steering wheel

blog-0461614001422663761.jpgAt the time of the test drive I the car pulled to the left pretty hard, I figured this was due to not being driven for quite some time. After getting it home and doing a couple laps of the neighborhood I realized that the right front caliper was not functioning properly, the surface rust on the disc was still present after several attempts at hard stops. I got a brake bleed kit and attempted to bleed the caliper but no fluid came out. I pulled the caliper off and no fluid exited the line, I also attempted to push the pistons back into the caliper with a clamp but neither one moved. I called the usual places looking for a caliper but because I have a ’68 built car I needed the single line calipers and those are in short supply, I hit the faq and Stuff hooked me up with a take off pair of calipers. I also picked up a brake hose hoping that worst case the hose to the caliper was clogged.

    blogentry-48020-0-32017100-1422662777_th

    Super fast red calipers. Peek-a-boo.

    blogentry-48020-0-52940700-1422662767_th

    New passenger side line.

We had a few warm days in December here in Michigan and I was able to swap in the new, old calipers. They are painted red so now my car is faster. Install was fairly easy and uneventful, the rubber hose on the passenger side was clogged and replacing it did fix the brake fluid flow problem. The drivers side hose and caliper had been replaced some time in the past few years but I swapped in the matching caliper that Stuff sent me. I bled the brakes and the fronts worked great.

It was at this time that I decided to check the rear brakes, just to see if I needed to bleed them while I had the bleed kit and fluid out. Neither one functioned, yikes. I assumed they were working because other than the pull to the left the car seemed to brake normally, although it must have been the downshifting that arrested the rear wheels.

I loosened the bleed nipple on the passenger drum and there was no fluid flow, then I pulled the lines at the drums, no fluid flow there either. The drivers side drum was missing the bleed nipple. SO MANY THINGS WRONG! The rubber brake lines that run between the body and the rear suspension seemed to be clogged, like the front. Those were bastards to loosen; it was hard enough getting one end off (rear) the other (front) was in a valley that was impossible to access with any tools I own. I couldn’t get the hose off without damaging the hard lines and mounting brackets. After 2 days fighting with the rear brakes I gave up. I am going to wait for the weather to break and I am going to go with the big brake kit IE sells. I am also going to replace all the body lines. The pictures below were shot with the car put back together and with poor light.

On 20 December 2013 I've ordered and paid $388.00 to Mr Bryce Veller alias DenverTII. He is an absolute thief because up untill today I have not yet received ANYTHING from him besides empty "promisses" I stay in South Africa but has provided him with a delivery address in Tampa, Florida.

I therefore want to ask you not to support this idiot unless if you can go and collect the spares directly from him at his house from where he do his deals and from where he is ripping people off. I have trusted him 100% but now I willnever be able to trust anyone in the USA selling parts which I desperately need for my 1971 2002! What a shame!

I trust you will take this up seriously before you too gets ripped off.

May you all have a wonderful and prosperous 2015!

    Regards

    Pierre

I don't have a problem to give him another chance but was more than a year now not enough? Anyhow, he has contacted me and promissed to deliver the parts this week, like I said to him, seeing is believing! Such matters delays a project tremendously.

blog-0876569001419816680.jpgIt has been a while since I have actually been able to string some days of work together. My original plan was to fix the rust holes on the interior of the cabin, put the interior in and then get the engine wired and running. Things changed and shifted and I went digging around and found a lot more rust than I expected. I will now be repairing a-pillars, and a couple of other panels. This means that my overall restoration has greatly expanded.

"Fix the rust holes" looks so much simpler when you watch the TV shows or YouTube videos. When you actually are doing it yourself for the very first time, well, that's very very different. I spent (wasted, frittered away) a lot of time getting my workspace squared away, figuring out how I wanted to work, and then just getting the time to be able to actually work. But now were are almost here.

Then winter got in the way - it was either too cold or too wet to work . . . until today.

I thought there were four holes in the floor pan - but the driver's side turned out to be much worse. That will be for another blog entry.

The two smallish ones on the passenger side are the first to be attacked. After grinding and fixing up the hole, I messed up the first patch and had to make a second one. Bad this was that the first patch was from a section of floor panel that I bought, so I had to make the patch out of 20 gauge sheet. I also had to expand the hole cause I botched that up too.

Outer Passenger Floor Hole Enlarged And Cleaned Up

This was my first time welding. And my first time fitting up a patch. It was a lot more work that what I expected. The first (second) bigger patch took over two hours to form and it seemed like the last hour was spent trimming the damn patch a 1/16th of an inch at a time. Finally when the patch was set, I started tacking it in a bit at a time.

Outer Passenger Floor Most Of The Tacks

    Outer Passenger Floor Half Tacked

Some of my welds are kind of cruddy, but I did get full penetration on them. I ground the welds down but I have to finish smoothing them out and then prime and seal them.

    Inner Passenger Floor Before

    Finished Welding Passenger Floor

    Outer Passenger Floor Finished

This took me about six hours to get this done. I'm sore and tired from crouching, bending walking back and forth. My knees are killing me from kneeling on the driveway and welding the footwell is not comfortable or easy. And I'll be doing this again next week!

I already have three Mahle rims 5 x13 (#36111112755). I like to find two additional rims for a complete set of five.

I may consider FPS rims 5 x13 (#36111114231) also, because are identicals as those from Mahle.

If there any body which know where I can find those rims, will be very appreciated.

I know that this is a very dificult task, but I am continuing trying.

Any body can send, also, an email to lcdo.alvarez@icloud.com.

There is not much to look at here in the states and I don't know if the Euro price is a good assessment of what the car is worth to someone in the states. There are a lot of neat items on the car but it has not run in 15 years. I stored it with Stable in the tank, lines, and motor but didn't want to turn it over now in fear of ruining something. If I got it running how much more should I ask for it?

All thoughts welcome, thank you for your time.

    Rich

    Here is the post:

Hello, I have a Sapphire Metallic Blue 1980 BMW 320 Grey Market car in storage. This car was originally purchased in Germany and imported to the U.S through Washington State in 1980. It has a clear WI title and was running when I stored it 15 years ago. It has a 5 speed dog leg tight ratio manual transmission, independent suspension, LSD, with BBS brakes. This is the M20 "baby six"slant six cylinder motor with Aluminum head, cast iron block, headers, and a 4-barrel carburetor... it goes like a rocket. As well as a dealer installed fire extinguisher mounted on the front of the drivers seat (see pics). It has an aftermarket Alpine stereo with Pioneer and Pyramid speakers. There is rust, dings, dents, scratches, and needs seat upholstery work. I planned to restore it myself so it comes with new fenders, emblems, and a carb kit. My work has taken me out east and I don't have time or space to hold on to it any more. I am asking $2000 or best offer.

    Thanks, Rich

FYI - Glenn C. in Ohio, I can not send email to your last email address, please respond the car is ready.

  8. Finally back for an update! I've been researching a lot on upgrades and what projects to tackle first. I have a box of parts, but I still need to order a whole bunch of things. So after sitting under a tarp with holes in it for a week with a few rainy days (keep in mind that all the window moldings are practically dust), I got a change to work on my car and go through it a little more. I started by just cleaning the car up using a vacuum and a whole lot of windex. I'm further assessing what needs attention first. I'll try to get some more things done soon and share it with you all. I know that I'm getting it up on a lift this Saturday so that I can make a checklist of parts to order. It's definitely going to need bushings all around, and I know that I'm upgrading the suspension to Bilstein Sport Shocks with Ireland Engineering Stage 2 Springs. Without further ado - picture time.

How it sadly sat for a week.

    Hi,

I am Aaron living in essex. This project will move quite slowly as I dont have proper garage so work will take place when the weather is good. So this weekend not much got done.

heres a pic of when i got it. I purchased it from another member on here so some of you may recognise it.

looking to put a fast engine in it, with small bubble arches some nice recaros. I will be asking lots of questions along the way,I apologise in advance for all the newbie questions, any comments are welcome.

    Hi,

Made a little progress but the weathers been terrible.

Picked up a engine stripped it down to a manageable size.

    Lots of loom :/

I am looking to convert the steering to rack and pinion as the engine wont fit :/.

I've got some newbie questions that some of you might be able to answer.

Can anybody who has done this before please give some guidance.

Firstly a steering rack need to be picked which has the same distance between UV joints as the steering box system. Does anyone know which one is close?

The steering rack needs to be mounted at the right height compared to the TCA's reduce the affect of bump steer.

The steering rack needs to be mounted the right distance back and the steering arms need to be shorter to counteract the short throw the rack has compared to the steering box.

    Am I missing anything?

Thanks for the comments, keep them coming :)

    Is there anything i'm missing?

I've measured the S2000 engine mounting points and attached them below if anyone needs them. I'm not absolutely sure they fit as havn't got them back from the cutters yet so take no responsibility if they dont fit. Just thought they might be useful to someone else. :)

I've also measured the distance between the universal joints on the steering box and got 410mm

I measured the distance between the pivots of the tca's and got 470mm.

Correct me if i'm wrong but i thought they were suppose to be very similar otherwise it will cause bump steer?

Does anyone know a steering rack that is 410mm between universal joints?

    Thanks,

    Aaron

    Thanks for any suggestions

So I've been messing around in SolidWorks and this is what I have so far.

Obviously this currently wont work, but it gave me a good idea of sizing and overall design
