Starting to plan a Spring or Mid-Summer (2016) RGB gtg

Guys:   I recently checked out Lake Hope State Park and the roads in the vicinity.  We could have a hell of a gtg using the cabins and camp grounds there for a Friday and Saturday night stay and a super nice drive on Saturday.  I stayed overnight at Kevin Funk's home in Shade, OH recently. He helped me to map out some likely routes.  Some of the roads (555 especially) are like the old "Wild Mouse" amusement park ride from my youth!  Hill hopping and off-camber turns, etc.  I located two wineries that we could check out on Friday, in fact the one would be great for a catered dinner and wine-tasting experience.  Kevin would be happy to help with more info on this area, since he was born and raised there.  Kfunk knows the roads very well.  The state park looks very nice, so I'd love to plan a gtg for you guys.

Tell me when is a good date for you?   Spring?  Mid-Summer?  Give me a date that works.  Thanks.  Suggestions are welcomed!

Jim,

Huh, nobody replied to this?

Did you post this on the RGB FB page too?

Did it get any traction over there? (I'm not on FB anymore so I wouldn't know).

I'd be game whenever, but I have conflicts on the weekends now 7/31 to 8/22ish.

Wish I would've seen this earlier.

555 is a great road.  I forget what we took from Marietta to Athens, but I know it had 5 or 6 switchbacks in it and scarring the crap out of my friend driving his GTI.  If a winery didn't suit, could drive to Marietta, lots of options there, and come back on another route.

This would be a lot easier for me to make than the N.Kentucky runs.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
