WEBER 32/36 DGEV 12V CONNECTION

Inop turn signals:  first of all, check the appropriate fuse.  Most of the time that's the culprit, especially when none of the turn signals work.  Which fuse is dependent on the year of your car.  And don't just wiggle the fuse in its holder--remove it, inspect the ends (they do corrode and wear through), then clean the brass contacts on the fuse box as well as the fuse ends (or use a new fuse).  If that doesn't work, you'll need to borrow someone's turn signal flasher relay (black box under the dash near the hood release, marked "Nicht Werfen" --the one marked "Wisch-Wasch-Geber" is the wiper relay) and try it.  Those turn signal relays don't fail very often, but they can.  check archives for how to substitute an auto parts store flasher--much cheaper.

For your electric choke, you'll need a fused wire that is hot only when the ign is on.  If you have a late '72 or later car (2 bbl carb) there is most likely a black wire that seemingly does nothing and ends near the carb.  It powerd something on Euro only cars, but meets the above requirements; all you need to do is plug it into the terminal on the carb.  I'd test it first with a voltmeter to make sure it's only live with the ign on.  If your car doesn't have that wire, it's a pretty easy task to run a wire from the low voltage side of the ign coil to the carb.  Just make the wire long enough so that it can flex as the engine shakes.

cheers

When I took my emissions harness out I ran a lead off the wire to the coil and sent it to the carb. Works fine here!

Mike,

found that unused lead zipped tied to a hose about 6" from the carb, and yes it's only hot when ignition is on,,,how lucky is that,,tested last night and all works as should,  you saved me a ton of time and frustration trying to tie into the ignition switch.

thanks,

i removed all fuses one at a time and cleaned both fuse ends and brass holders in fuse box, still no signals, i swapped out relay with another oem that came with spare parts with car still no signals, not sure if both relays are bad.  i'll keep plugging away till i find problem.

thanks again,

Joel

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
