This is the last year of the roundies, 1973 BMW 2002 that made BMW famous, this car is in great condition and has always been a Southern California car from day 1 and has no rust. It is currently driven a few times every month since 2011. The car was restored approx. 10 years ago and engine was rebuilt soon before that. Previous owner who removed side markers and relocated muffler exit to center did the paint re-spray. Paint is good and shiny with minor dents, scratches and some fading. There are 2 areas with some very minor corrosion around rear side windows. Interior and dashboard are in very good condition with 320i Recaro Seats upholstered to match ’73 interior along with new Black weave carper kit from Gahh. Sunroof works great. Reason for selling, time for a new project.

Engine; A stock motor that was just completely re-sealed by Ronin Autowerks in Fullerton, CA. that has 32/36 weber conversion and M3 Starter, Pertronics Ignitor, 320i 5-speed with Limited slip 3:49 320i rear end. Approx 60,00 miles on rebuild. Starts right up and drives very strong and is very reliable and has run cool in 100 plus outside temps. No oil or transmission leaks at all.

Suspension/Brakes; Car is very firm but not harsh due to HR Sport Sprints with Bilstein Shocks and tii struts and Suspension Techniques Sway Bars

This car can be driven as a daily driver or shown on weekends with no worries. Cruises highway easily and smoothly at 85 mph.  Everything is in great working condition.   Asking 18,000 firm.  Text or call nine-o-nine eight-1-five 1-four-8-nine.  Thanks Serious buyers only please.

This is classic. I’m building a very similar car and am likely to be into it for more then 18k between the purchase price, 5spd, limited slip diff, Tii front and rear suspension, rear disks, paint, interior, and have yet to purchase, wheels, sway bars, stereo, and do something with the rear seat. Dsigner, you need a project? I would like to have my 100 plus hours back and not spend another 100 plus building my car. I’ll trade you straight across! Just kidding about the trade, but did want to make a point. Your car looks like a well sorted value. It would be hard to build for 18K today. I’m a masochist and enjoy the building process, so off I go to toil.I'm a little shocked that your add is so old? 18k seems like a deal. I don't know the seller. I'm just a guy questioning my own build at the moment. Somebody buy this car for 20k to make me feel better about what I'm building please. Best of luck on your next project Dsigner, your 02 is sweet.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
