Wow! A lot of time has surely gone into this! Cool! 

 

...I've been working out the details of mounting a T5 to an M10... seeing as how you just threw in the motor also maybe you could shed some light... How much needed to be cut out of the trans tunnel to fit the T5? is it just the bellhousing section that is too large or are there clearance issues between the rest of the transmission and the narrower section of the tunnel also?

there are several folks with T5's behind s14's in e30 m3's.  they use custom adaptors between the T5 and a 265 bellhousing.  i have been tempted, but do not want to cut up the tunnel.  if i had known i would have started with an automatic car....

The info on the T5 is down in the last few posts on the page. Apparently they're using a company called G-Force for the adapters as well as turning them into dogboxes with straight cut gears. Mmmmmm.....

Well ahead of you guys! I planned to use the auto bellhousing and an adapter between the T5 and the bell. Pilot bearing would require a shim i would make on my lathe.... clutch is easy enough; I believe the 2.3 liter T5 clutch is the correct diameter and spline. Hydraulic throw out bearing would take care of the release mechanism. Getting the depth of the bellhousing correct is what concerns me. Driveshaft is easy; ditch the Guibo and run the T5 sliding spicer joint.

 

Alex; many thanks for the link. Not much data is available on the M10-T5 conversion, but its been done many times it seems... The T5 is really perfect for our engines considering the many gearsets available.
