Sketchy Inquiries To Parts For Sale?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else received some questionable inquiries to parts for sale?   You know the kind I mean, with verbage that doesn't seem to really be in to 2002s, and frankly seems like some off-continent scammer trying to make a connection.

I replied to two such inquiries just today, with parts info and asking for zip codes etc, but  no responses came.

Seemed kinda shaky to me, but  maybe I'm over reacting.

The scammers are fairly frequent and easy to spot.  Usually the ones I've gotten have an extremely long repeat of the ad included in the subject line.

On the other hand, there are some characters lurking on the forum that seem odd and have funny names, but they send real money.  If you get actual money, then send the part.

I received an email response to a part I was looking for recently. The "seller" was acting really shady and kept wanting to complete the transaction asap. he also wanted payment via western union and when I told him I was getting a weird vibe and asked for his user name, he became unresponsive and I never heard back.

Ok esty,  I don't want to get into a pissing match with you, but honestly your "world cop" thing is just getting so tiresome.   Look, I just posted a question about a couple of odd-sounding responses I got about some parts I have for sale.  My intent was to see if maybe there were indeed others who received questionable responses.

For you to take any of us to task for not revealing the usernames in order to "warn" the other users is just plain idiotic.  I am GATHERING FACTS here, and would not even consider "exposing" anyone at this point.    While some on this forum might appreciate your overarching benevolent watchdog omnipresent mother superior attitude, I personally feel it's just unnecessary.  It drags down the forum.

With all due respect, stop sticking your nose into everything that goes on here...you are the kind of poster that drives people away from otherwise good forums.

Finally, please don't respond to this post with your explanation on how you're protecting all of us.  I know your position and I don't care.  You are not going to change my view of you no matter what you might say.  Just shut up already.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
