Radiator Overflow "tubing" Source?

Recommended Posts

So I went looking to buy overflow hose from the top of the rad. Mine was too short and overflow was accumulating on the ledge below the rad.

After visiting rad shops, auto parts stores and hose suppliers I've learned that it's not "hose" it's thin wall "tubing".

Everyone offers hoses of different varieties, BUT I WANT BLACK TUBING! Fits better and satisfies my OCD requirements.

Anyone know a supplier of tubing that will have a product close to the OEM stuff?

I doubt it would be very expensive and I'd even buy a roll and pass pieces on to my buddies.

Approx: 5/16" (7mm) ID, 3/32" (2mm) WALL, EPDM rubber(or synthetic). Black.Wall thickness must be thin as it has to fit between outlet pipe and upper tank of rad. Also it has to fit inside the clamps down the side of the rad.

I was thinking of this hard plastic from belmetric. 8mm ID and 10mm OD

Coupla thoughts:\

1.  a hardware store?  I've seen black vinyl tubing (it's more common in clear and white, but they do make black) in various diameters...

2.  a large auto parts supplier should have black rubber tubing, as modern cars use something similar to connect the radiator with the oveflow tank.

3.  large diameter vacuum hose, perhaps from a truck or farm supply store.

4.  a radiator shop?

I know I bought some several years ago for the same reason you need it and didn't have a great deal of trouble finding some.

It was this tube:

I don't remember if it was this size or the other (they have 2 and bought both for various projects). I suppose you could try Amazon or see if they have it at a Walmart, Tractor Supply, [insert big box store name here].

Good luck!

I slipped some clear tubing I had around the garage into the end of the black tubing to extend the end past the nose panel. This dropped overflow coolant near the swaybar.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
