Marin Cars & Coffee Then Drive?

Malagatii

Recommended Posts

I'm toying with the idea of pulling together a drive of west Marin after the C&C event in Novato on Sunday September 6th.  I'm happy to pull together a route if there is enough interest.

Respond to this posting if you would be.

Also a friendly reminder that this months C&C event is this Sunday.  More info:

It's a general vintage car meet up. I keep on trying to get a good 02 contingent to show up. I wasn't able to make it today, but want to get a drive together for next months if we get enough interest.

Great. Here's my early ideas on a plan. Meet at cars and coffee at 8. Hit the road by 8:30 (too early?) then back roads out to Tamales, on to bodega, occidental and back to Novato. Should be a 2-3 hour trip on some great roads, depending on how many stops we want (I'm thinking at least 2).

Thoughts?

unfortunately my clutch needs to be replaced, so I might not make it to the cars & coffee event. I went to "Harbor Freight" to pickup a transmission jack, and need to order a clutch kit and some other things. Does anyone know of a supplier other than "Roger's Tii"?

Yes I'm still very interested in pulling this together and may do it no matter the turn out.  I'm still thinking of the same plan unless someone wants to suggest changes that might get more participation, as this is the first time I'm pulling something like this together.

Plan to meet at Cars and Coffee at 8:00  at the Rolland Plaza Starbucks, and roll by 8:30-45 after checking out a few cars.

He's one route I've been thinking of with stops in Tomales and Occidental at least:

Looks to be about 2.5 - 3 hours and under 100 miles.  Too long?

I would be good to get an early start

It seems as though people start coming to the meet around 8:30-9ish.. I know I rolled in at 8:30 and there were still more cars coming through... I'd like to see the cars that come through so I may skip the drive this time... especially since Tesoro's choke intermittently idles erratically... but I am interested in doing a drive one of these days! So please keep me informed! See you in a couple of weeks!

The mapquest lineup didn't seem to load up correctly, but I kind I have an idea of the route.

It might be kind of a long drive for just a handful of cars?

Also, my girlfriend might bring her Volvo up, in which case we might want to stick around in the morning a little bit longer to see some other cars as well.

I'm happy to push the roll time back an hour if that helps.  More cars to see at C&C, but I don't think I can make a whole day of it, so I'd prefer to roll by 9:15-30 (latest).

Also, This does not have to be strictly '02s.  Bring friends and any ride you want.

So 3 of us ended up on a slightly modified route after checking out a great turn out at C&C. We took back roads out to Marshall, up to Tomales, out to Valley Ford Road, back through Cheleno valley, Nicassio, and Lucas Valley road. About 100 miles of fun spirited driving. We will certainly need to do it again sometime.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
