Ie Shifter Issues With 5 Speed Swap

Okay so I am trying to get my getrag install finished up but ran into issues with the shifter.

 

Per IE the shifter link is installed on the passenger side. Everything is pretty tight although in the video you will see some play. I'm not sure if that is normal. 

 

I only have 3-4-5 gears. If I swap the shifter linkage to the drivers side I have R-1-2-3-4. 

 

Obviously this is not right. I made a video but the quality is only okay. It looks like there may be some contact but I can't be sure. Prior to install I tested the transmission and it went into all gears. There must be something going on. 

 

Can anyone see anything visually that I may have screwed up? I thought maybe the shifter itself was in 180 degrees off, but looking at photos the bend in the shifter should point forward. Can anyone confirm this?

 

I plan to call IE but I figured I would post here as well.

It took a couple of times, but it became very obviously pretty quick!  the plates on the front end of the shifter need to be mounted on top of the rectangular mounts, not on the bottom like you've got it.

 

It'll be entertaining to see if anyone else spots it.  If not please copy and paste this reply in.

In the small chance that that doesn't completely solve your problem, a small notch in the bent portion of the plate may be necessary, or a new hole on the back elbow to choke up the rear.

The mount's fillister head bolt drilling on my 5spd drivers side is drilled thru and lube leaked out when the trans was tilted.  I think that is a source of replaceable rust proofing and so I put sealant the bolt when I installed it the last time.  I found this out when I filled the transmission in the floor sitting in a cradle.  Then when I was maneuvering the trans during install, lube came out that hole.  The other hole didn't spill but I think I sealed the threads also.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

 

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.
