A friend stopped by and his City Light was not working.

 

Has anyone seen a fixture like this?

 Yes, the early (real early) cars came as equipped.  I had a set from a 68 like that.

I've seen several.  My dd used to have one of each- I think the separate light was on the left, but I forget...

My Feb '69 production US spec 2002 has 'em....I believe they were used through the end of 1969 production.  The 1970 models have the bulging turn signals with a two filament, single bulb.

My '70 (1673695) had the 2-bulb frame with the USA bulging lens.

I have them on my 69 as well

According to the parts book the flat lens turn signals were used on US cars up to VIN 1677377; after that VIN the factory fitted the bulging lens turn signals.  That changeover would be well into 1970 production...

And that's consistent with my very early '70 car -- manufactured Sept. 8, 1969 -- which had this style turn signals. It was VIN 1668093.
