Best Tire Size/type For Stock 75 2002

Hi again BMW folks. I decided to go ahead and purchase the garage-find 2002, which is 18 years dormant. The plan is to tow the car home on Friday, so today I went to the secret location and removed the plugs and squirted Marvel Mystery Oil into the cylinders. Hopefully this will keep things lubricated as I try a rolling re-hab on this car.

QUESTION: Tires-easy.com is having a sale which ends Friday (they are spying on me). I was happy with my transaction on my Volvo 1800, and I think I'll buy tires again from them for the '02. So, what is the bone-stock tire size for a 75 2002 base model? Thanks for your help.post-47363-0-79267900-1405994156_thumb.jpost-47363-0-87042700-1405994195_thumb.jpost-47363-0-41662400-1405994257_thumb.j

Thanks Marshall, Yes engine not bone stock....Evidently the owner installed some type of turbo on the thing, which I can't imagine will be of much use after all this time dormant. For sake of ease I will probably go Weber, as I'm not trying to prove anything to anyone.

He evidently moved the carb to the front right corner, and the turbo apparently runs off the exhaust and then crosses over top the engine and into the intake manifold. (Well this is what he told me). So, how many add'l horsepower can this thing generate compared to stock? Or say Weber with a header? With so much other stuff to mess with, would it be worth a newbie like myself to delve into the world of turbo? Thanks again.

Thanks CJ, The car really looks solid, so I am looking forward to dragging it back to my garage and getting started. I will need to make a second trip back there to haul off all the spares the owner has accumulated...tons of stuff...body parts, carbs, wheels, engine parts. Step one is to get the car out of there, then he'll be able to access the rafters and assemble the parts...I'll return in the pickup truck to haul them back to my uncluttered garage...Will post the parts on this forum once I sort through them. Sincere thanks to all you guys for the advice and good wishes. Rich

My guess is that with the modifications to the engine, you don't have the stock 13 inch wheels.

They look like stock later steelies in the first photo.

scoopyg i was wondering if you could share more about your experience with tires-easy. i found they had decent selection in 14" tires but was reluctant to pull the trigger and ended getting some falken ziex's for my car instead. the prices look pretty good though. thanks!

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
