I freaking love cars, and I freaking love car culture.  There is just something for very form of car crazy.  Vintage cars, muscle cars, exotics, hella flush stanced cars, tuning the crap out of a car with stage 4 mods and never racing it, low riders, jacked up trucks, track whore cars... and now... "Rollin' coal"

Take the dumbest ideas you can think of, and there is a car culture celebrating it.  Best thing since Whistle tips.

One of these douches lives in my neighborhood.  I've seen him pulled over by police twice.  He likes to do 40 mph in a 25 mph zone where kids are playing and people like to walk.  Took the dogs for a walk past his house, and noticed the permanent discoloration and melted rear window gasket because the idiot cut his stack too short and mounted it too close to the cab.

I laughed so hard, sure, i understand that this is pollution, but "21,000 premature deaths per year" due to diesel pollution... What a joke. I would love to see their scientific proof of that. The amount of ludicrous stats that are quoted in internet articles are getting out of hand. (Just go read the link they posted)

I am all for clean energy, but the media is feeding the masses with so-called statistics that I still can't find the source of. And the worst part is that people these days believe anything that sounds scientific, without any investigation. /rant

My friend has a diesel pick-up that is pushed past smoke point, and I have to admit, it gets old fast.

I bet those are nice guys when outside their trucks. The rollin' coal thing however is a bit douchey.

The 'rolling coal' trend is about as funny as road rage or drunk driving.  They've already made a statement with their macho man truck (and sometimes the clever scrotum on the back of the truck), there's no need to give both middle fingers to everyone else on the road.    Kind of simple:  Don't be a DICK.

Some of us it's actually part of the making power thing, thick black smoke no, that's douchey, a gray haze, thats just part of being a diesel. At least in my world of old diesels thats part of it, I cant make the power that I do without some soot, and yes, I feel bad when I'm trying to get on the highway on an on ramp with 4k+ behind me and sooting because its an old diesel. Ive been slowly working on making it cleaner. But sometimes it is what it is. But ya, the rolling coal thing is a bit douchey....

My dads stock 07' 3500 Cummins smokes a bit when you step on it... Not a silly thick cloud but it's pretty sooty when you get on it. Diesels are great motors regardless what all the un-educated environmentalists say...

I missed this thread but I sure am glad I read it if only to hear Jim use the words "clever scrotum" together! You crack me up Jim!

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
