Tii Hose Identification And Service

Does this hose on a tii transfer coolant or oil?  Also, is the inner diameter approximately 1/2 inch?

Since it's a straight hose, I'd rather get the part from Gates or another supplier but need to know what it transfers to get the correct type of hose that will not swell or deteriorate easily.

The specs on their heavy duty "green stripe" rubber and their "Durion" silicone 1/2 inch hoses both caution against fuel or oil transfer with either one.

They also make a "8 Megatech" low pressure hydraulic hose, but it requires fittings.

yep, plain ol' coolant.  Get a piece of hose a couple of inches too long, install the lower end, then custom-fit-for-length the upper end so you'll get the bend radius you want.  Piece of cake.

I SEE A HUGE PROBLEM !!  notice that your battery cable goes through that metal guide loop.  Get some sort of insulation/buffer stuff around the cable !!  You don't want the guide loop wearing through the cable insulation due to vibration ..... the arc'ing will be spectacular !!!!!

Another probable problem:  your red-marked coolant hose we're talking about:  notice it is touching the curvy aluminum air pipe.  Vibration abrasion concern creating a min-wall problem with the hose, with potential failure.

Cheers,

Carl

Thanks for the replies.  Coolant hose it is, then.

Thanks for the warning about the cable and the metal loop.  I will install a rubber grommet without delay (and post a photo!) and I will take care of the rubbing problem with the aluminum pipe..

Finally, after 39 years on my car, the rubber grommet that fits inside the guide loop finally disintegrated and fell apart.  Right now I did some (hopefully) temporary redneck engineering with inner tube pieces and tie wraps, until I can get another grommet.

Scope Creep !!!  Take a close look at everything under the hood that touches, or could touch, and vibrate into a min-wall problem.

----  For Example on my car:  the plastic fuel line from the KF to cylinder #1:  I discovered a HUGE wear-away on the line, and I still don't know why the plastic didn't rupture/break/fail.

Cheers,

Carl

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
