one point of view is that we know more/are smarter than the factory was 40 years ago. maybe this is an american, institutionalized attitude based on the former, pathtetic standards of american cars.
another is that the factory always knows best, and only compelling reasons are applicable when changing the factory setup. this theory gives due credit to the design philosophy of the company that gave us the motto " the joy of driving". there is no compelling reason to delete the starter support bracket.
