I thought hail the size of golf balls was an expression. The recent hail in Alabama was twice that, and cracked a spiderweb about 3 inches in diameter into the center of my (1975 malaga 2002) hood. Within a week the spiderweb was rust-colored (ie metal below paint/primer had rusted). The local body shop said size of cracks meant whole bonnet needed to be repainted. Probably they are not wrong.

Does anyone have a band-aid solution? Or another solution?

I have rust-abatement liquid and am good with touch-up paint, for what it's worth.
