The wrench turning 'Curious George' in me would love to tackle this situation, but since it's not my car...I think I'll draw the line at just keeping the kids in one piece until they get back.

Thanks for the info, now I have a better picture of what's going on in there which will help in understanding the repair estimates...

Thanks for the tip on bimmerforums. I've only tried posting M3 questions at Roadfly in the past but that forum 'creeps me out' so I quit going there. I'll try the bimmerforums next time...And you're right: There's only two vehicles here that can haul the kids: a suburban or an M3....hmm...let's all try to guess what Uncle Shad chooses every time!!
