I flipped the engine over on the engine stand to get at the oil pan. When I did so a lot of oil came out the ports. A lot meaning probably about a pint or more. My question is even though I thoroughly drained the engine I still had quite a bit of oil in the block. Is this something to be worried about?
Evidently under normal oil changing the oil I spilled is left in the block. Is there a known way to get more of the oil out of the block outside of rolling the car? Thanks, Don

A couple of questions for you:
Was the engine warm when you drained it?
Was the oil filter removed during the draining?
Sorry if these seem elementary but we have all levels of expertise on this board and all information is helpful when diagnosing one's issues from afar.
Cheers,

Heck, a pint's not a lot. You probably got some water, too...
The pan drain leaves quite a bit sitting in the bottom....

and the filter was still attached. I guess it was just oil left in the pan and filter, it surprised me as to how much came out. Well anyhow now I can start with 100% fresh oil and do a complete oil change next time I remove the engine:>) Thanks for the observations, Don
