Hispano Suiza.
From behind I thought it was American, but when I was the grill, I was shocked. It was a HUGE vehicle, 9 paseenger, but unfortunately I had little time to do any more than these perfunctory pics.
I have tried to find a photo of this car on the internet, but so far, no luck. There is a similar one but looks newer, a 1937 Shooting Brake.
It is possible that this could be a one-off as it was common in the day to coachbuild different bodies on the basic frame.
I can't even find an approximate value.
Any ideas anyone??

IIRC most Hispano-Suizas were coachbuilt, like the Rolls and Bentleys of the same period.

Hopefully the ones in Cuba haven't had a Soviet diesel tracto engine or something similar shoehorned into their engine bays.

There was so many big-money guys going around in Cuba during the Batista days that I wouldn't be surprised if a Bugatti Royale showed up one of these days...

K Funk that is close but I think that is the '37 as the front doors look a little rounder, and on the other pic I saw of it were rear-hinged, AKA 'suicide'. But the wire wheels and colour look right.
Harry, nothing would surprise me in Cuba. I have heard of 2 gullwings there, but have not seen them.
Unfortunately there was a time, I think the early nineties "the special period" after the USSR pulled out, that they allowed some of the cars to be exported and I was told the Italians got in and grabbed all the Maseratis and Ferraris. But I'm sure they didn't get them all.

We have a gullwing here that was bought new by a local family. They sold it to a collector here, who did a beautiful restoration.

Rumor has it that a 507 owned by the same family sits rotting away in a warehouse. I remember seeing both the 507 and the Gullwing about 30 or 35 years ago at a local show.

Interestingly enough, a friend of mine bought the parts lot from the old local BMW dealer (it went bankrupt when BMW eliminated the eta engine, but that's another story) and among lots of '02, E6, E9 , E21 and E12 parts there was a 507 grille.

Man, that is so sweet. What a thrill to see those cars. The HS looks the same in both photos except the roof appears tan on the overhead shot but looks black in the recent photo. But how many would have had a woody body??...more than likely the same car. Thanks for sharing!

Benz, if you mean the car is one and the same as the overhead that Kfunk posted, I doubt that is possible.
My shots were taken 4 days ago, and the one KFunk posted is obviously at a recent councours event.
i doubt that 'coucours' car has found its way into a Cuban barn in the last few years.
They could however, be two of a kind.
That's why this is such a cool discovery...... the one I photgraphed might be unknown...kind of like the 7th Bugatti Royale

Oops!...Right you are. Well, I suppose you could ring up Jay Leno and he'd probably know off the top of his head just what it is!
