someone sent me a link to this thread last night and i thought it might heat things up around here...i haven't been callled a worthless cunt in a while and thought this might put a little spark in the board....
| Dude wrote: | Al owed me a shitload of money for saving his ass with the landlord who promptly locked his shop up for owing backrent on his lease. I asked him for the Bug because I had waited 4 MONTHS for repayment of almost $6k which was supposed to be repaid in 2 weeks. He was trying to sell the Bug for $8500!! Then $7500, then $6500. Meanwhile Im shafted for a ton of money. So before you judge, realize there is 2 stories here, and Im the one who got f*&^%$!!
We BOTH made the wrong decisions? F%$#@ you. When he asked for that huge loan I should have said no. Instead I help him GET HIS BUSINESS BACK and I made the wrong decision? This is Bull Shit, stay out of stuff you know nothing about. |

Adam, you're not a dumb 20 year old. As Blake stated, you're a bright guy, with an excellent head on his shoulders, and a bright future. I thank you very very much for your support, and loyalty in your post. It feels good to have such good friends.
Mark, I was really hoping that our personal issues would never be aired on this board, and I thank you for holding back until now.
For those who don't know what transpired between Mark and I, here's what happened. I've always had an open book policy, but some things are best kept private. Cats out of the bag now, so what does it really matter?
Last winter, towards the end of my 1st year at Classic Image, I did not anticipate being so slow in the shop. I was, and still am, paying off a huge loan that I took to purchase the business, and was unable to put aside enough cash to cover the entire winter's bills. I got behind with my lease for a couple months, and was subsequently shut down by my landlord. No warning from him, I attempted to work it out with him, but he did what he felt was the right thing. I was in a jam, to say the least. I made arrangements with another friend/Bimmerclassics member, to borrow approx. $5k long term, to get back on my feet, and resume normal business. Said friend was working elsewhere, and told me I would need to wait until he was back from working out of town, before he could secure the funds for me. I was grateful, but still in jam. I called my good friend Mark, tail between my legs, and asked if he could, or would be willing to help me out for a week or 2, until more permanent funds were secured.
Mark was an amazing friend at that moment, and offered to help me. I was so overwhelmed, I couldn't believe I was going to pull through. I went to Mark's house, borrowed the cash, and paid off my landlord. Bump in the road, but such is the life of a new business.
Once the other friend came back into town, he changed his mind about helping. Not sure why he did, but he did. Left me in a very very very bad spot with Mark. I felt kinda sandbagged by the whole deal, and scrambled HARD to secure funding, to at least pay Mark back. I failed.
Next step was to get the Beetle running, and get it sold. I got it running, got it driving, got it weathertight, and put it on the market. Based on what many of my VW aircooled friends, and experts told me, I set an asking price of $8500. It didn't sell. Subsequent price drops, and still no sale. After several months of this, Mark asked me for the car as payment. We agreed that he would sell it, pay off what I owed him, and any money left, would come back to me.
I really wanted, and expressed to Mark that I NEEDED more time to sort out the car, but he insisted that he get it now. I obliged, put all the parts together, and put the car on a deck to North Van. Mark and I settled up, and live seemingly moved on.
Shitty deal overall, no one was happy about it, I lost Mark as a friend, and as a loyal customer to the shop. After the amount of work that Mark had me perform on his E30 and M5, I clearly had no intention of "screwing" Mark out of $5k. $5k is a drop in the bucket, compared to what he would have spent in the long run, having me maintain a 318is and M5. After being let down by the other friend previously mentioned, it cost me FAR MORE than $5k, financially, and personally. A most regrettable, and sad chain of events. Worst part of it, is losing a friend. To me, friends are everything, and we're nothing without them. Mark was a great friend, and I often lose sleep over how sour our deal went.
So Mark, here is my public apology, after many many many private apologies. I'm very sorry for how all this went down. I truly hope one day, you will accept my apology, join me for a drink or two, and we can rekindle our friendship. If not, I understand.
Blake, I sent you a PM, but I may as well mention something here as well. Not sure what to say about the 535is. I only owned the old girl for a few hours, and drove her for a couple days before that. I was basically a broker in all this. She performed greatly while in my short term care, and I'm still shocked that these problems became so prevalent, so soon. As anyone who reads this entire thread can see, I made MANY attempts to get the car back to shop, for further repair. Not only further repair, but for the simple cost of parts. I PM'd, posted here, and called you at home. I wanted to resolve this, and frankly, I still do! I know what she needs, and I can fix her, but I need a chance. I asked for your home address, so I could come out on a SUnday afternoon, and work on her at your house.
I respect your decision to decline the offers I made, but I don't appeciate having my business ethics called into question on this matter. I did everything in my power to resolve it, and get your car fixed, a car I only owned for 1 day! If I were unethical, I would have simply stated "Sorry, it was sold as is, where is", and walked away. I did not do that, and I still don't. I essentially sold the car with a warranty, but if I cannot get the car in my shop, and I have no idea where you live, how can I honour it? You handcuffed my abilites to make good, and then calling my ethics into question, is not fair. Again, I count you as a friend, and hope we can move on from here.
What it all boils down to, is that I, Al Larson, am human, and a typical small business owner. I've taken my share of lumps, have suffered many growing pains, and will likely have to deal with more in the future. Its the life I have chosen for myself, and for some odd reason, I really enjoy it. Beyond that, I still hold all of my customers, and their cars in the highest regard. I strive to turn out the best work, with the best parts, and at a fair price. I may have my flaws, as we all do, but I assure you, there is nothing unethical about the way I conducted the sale of your 535is, or how the entire situation was handled on my end.
Anyway, thats it, it's allllll out in the open, for better or worse. I value this community as a whole, and have many friends here, some of which know most of these details already, some who are only seeing them now. I've nothing to hide, and anyone with questions, feel free to PM me, happy to answer them.
It's now 5:39am, and I need some sleep. G'night.

I realize this thread should really end with a kitty post, but I just couldn't let this comment slip by without suggesting a bragging rights contest to pick closest to the next date that Al gets called out on a public forum for a transaction gone haywire.
Lessee. He'll be cooling his heels for a month until this one blows over. Give him another 2-mos to start up another enterprise and get in over his head. It'll take another couple mos for a customer to realize that something is not quite right. Another 2-wks of evasive maneuvers until the customer does some web searches, and BAM, out comes the call-out post. So my entry is 8Oct08. Of course, if Al has other pots on the fire, the call-out date could be sooner, but I'll play it conservative and stick with 8Oct08. _________________ 67 Caribe 1600

Larson is a PSYCHOPATH, he had all those people fooled- look at the tattoo. IT IS "LOKI" for Christ's Sake. The pagan f&%cker of all DECEIT
"Loki is an adept shape-shifter, with the ability to change both form (examples include transmogrification to a salmon, horse etc.) and sex (he turned into a woman to trick Frigg to learn Baldr's weakness). But he had to borrow Freyja's cloak whenever he wanted to change into bird form.
In the Eddic depictions Loki mainly plays the role of a villain: a coward (when he was captured by a giant, he begged for his life and promised to give him the goddess Idun), liar (in Lokasenna, all gods called him a liar), cheater (he tricked Idun into being captured by the giant and only went to save her when threatened by the gods), thief (he stole Sif's hair and stole various things from the giants; he also stole Freyja's necklace and got beaten by Heimdall who was sent by Freyja to get the necklace back[3]), and as a murderer (he killed the god Baldur by tricking his blind brother Höðr into using a projectile made of mistletoe).
In Lokasenna, Odin relates what seems to be a lost story about how Loki spent eight years milking a cow like a maid."

I live near by and I can bash his head in any time, unlike you folks. _________________ 68' 2002 DD

It's the same thing if I get a swastika tat I then say "I am not a fascist".
I have met a few wife abusers, people who killed kittens for fun, who coned with no remorse and got away with these things-this disease is not that uncommon-1 in 10 has a psychopathic personality.
Please refer to what the real psychopaths are, there are many types of borderline disorders. He fits right in.

redundant- chaps are always 'assless', as they are designed to be worn over pants while riding a horse. of course.
also, when worn by themselves 'assless' is the absolute wrong way to describe the look. The assless part was for descriptive purposes only. Not every one here is a chaps aficionado like yourself. :)......... Plus I was thinking of a more Village People look. _________________ MJ
