sale pending.....
well, i've decided to put my 74 up for sale. my garage is full, and my nicer '70 gets all the attention and extra car money while my 74 continues to sit nearly running out in the driveway....
i bought the car locally probably about a year ago. the car was brought to ohio from new york about a year before that. it's golf yellow, although originally was agave i believe. the previous owner shortened the diving boards and painted them to match, re-upholstered the front seats, put a new carpet kit in, h4 style headlights (one has a crack), and added a zender front air damn which was incidentally cracked by the moronic tow truck driver that brought the car to my house.
i bought the car not running, (it's still NOT running) and have slowly been fixing things that i've found either hooked up wrong or worn out...i've narrowed the reason for not running down to a bad starter and bad ground. the starter is currently being rebuilt and should be re-installed in a matter of days...we got the motor to crank a few times in the winter with my friend's starter, but it was cold and we eventually killed the battery. the motor seems to turn freely so i believe it to be in good condition, but having never driven it, i cannot say 100%. i also think that the carburator will need a little work, some of the linkage appears to be missing.
i've replaced several hundred dollars worth of parts within the last year including a reconditioned radiator, new water pump, coolant, and all new hoses, new temp sender, thermostat, oil pressure sender, alternator, poly motor mounts, some of the fuel lines, oil, and filter, refurbished the gas tank, and just tried to sort things out that i've noticed are incorrect.
it's a project, but it's pretty solid. no major rust that i've seen. the rear shock towers were repaired, (definitely NOT the cleanest weld job i've ever seen) and i'd recommend they get a little more work, but there's no rot on the car. only places where the paint is starting to bubble up a little, and a few dings and dents. there's a small dent next to the passenger side headlight. all-in-all the car looks great from 20 feet. it cleans up realy nice as you can see in the pictures and you'll definitely turn heads going down the street. of course, once this car is running you'll probably need to go over some of the suspension components and brakes, as it has been sitting for at least a year and a half.
it's not a show car, but it's definitely a great start for a project. i don't think this car will need much more to be a fantastic daily driver, and it's certainly much better than some of the pieces that i've seen on the bay and c.l. lately.
i'm asking 1900.00
i'd like to be able to put the money into my 70 and get it where i want it as far as suspension/etc.... plus i'd like to see this car go to a great home. it makes me sad to see it in the driveway, but i don't have the disposable income to restore 2 cars at this moment in my life.
i've tried to list everything i know about the car, but if i missed something or you have a specific question, please email me at

thanks alot!
