Blunt, I was a Deuce guy before I was an E30 guy, here is a pic of the car in 2000. I am one of the originals around the FAQ, just have been out of the scene for many years while I was into E30s. I built up the car over the last few years. A little background for those who don't know, my father has owned the car since '74, and handed it down to me in 98 or 99. Slowly it got a 5 speed, 3.91, suspension, and a nice engine, 10:1, Schrick 304, DCOE 45s, Stahl, etc etc. I decided to paint the car myself, and has been a huge undertaking that I overestimated! I will use this project blog to just post pics of progress! :)

Stripping a car is the worst work in the world. Especially engine bay!

welcome back! Remember me?

we raced each other at the SD club auto-x once but you left early. I just also finished painting the car myself.

IT was a HUGE undertaking!!!! Good luck!

I pretty sure I never want to do that again!

I did everything in my brothers driveway. I ended up with a pretty nice paint job!

in case you haven't seen it check out my site or my project blog
here http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,50/page,viewtopic/t,273181/

Good Luck! I hope to see you around at some auto-x so we can finish what we started may years ago! Our cars should be pretty similar....

It actually isn't a Apexi sticker, it is a sticker for a local shop, apexengineering.com

Hey, welcome back!

Why don't you just take the engine out? It would be a lot easier to work in engine bay and the result would be better - don't you think so? Looks nice and I bet you'll love it again after e30!

Tommy, engine is coming out in a week or so...just don't have access to a picker yet, but will soon! Storage space for the engine is also nil -- it has to come in and out fast!

Well Trent I came back a few days ago. What happen to all the 02 San diego guys. I can`t believe you still have el duce, I figured you would have blown the thing up. Still working at apex.

I just bought a 72, sold my tii almost 3 years ago.

man its been a while since an update...

Always wanted to get rid of that

Neighbors were not happy with sandblasting in the front yard

Endura EP-2C aircraft epoxy

Doors were not ready at this point...they were up next..

Doors get the epoxy while the engine bay gets the Endura 421 hi-build...

Now everything gets the 421

Gettin closer...man this is a lot of work.

Hey Trent,

Definitely nice to see an old face (albeit a virtual one) around here.

I've been watching your progress so far but was curious why you chose to seal the bottom of the front fenders where it meets the nose. Obviously you aren't going for originality or anything here and I know you are more prone to custom but are you just trying to get the smoothest, most modern look?

I'm just trying to figure out if there is another reason besides the aesthetics. It would make for more work in the future to take them off if you ever need to get back in there and do some rust repair work..
