Subject: New ebay policy sux...

I was just looking at some 02 listings and was looking at one car
that is listed by a dealer as being in "mint mint mint" condition. But I can
see that it has a complete new front nose panel and has been repainted, and along with some other clues, suggest that it has been stripped and rebuilt. Perhaps it is an insurance repair/rebuild? I've asked the seller about the nose and paint and I will see if I get a response....

So I wanted to look at the bidder's list and find that the bidders are
designated "bidder 7", "bidder 6", etc., with no way of seeing the bidder's
ID. Then I saw this ebay notice:

"As the internet evolves, eBay continues to strike a balance between
preserving transparency and protecting our Community of members. eBay has decided to change how bid history information is displayed so bad guys cannot target bidders with fake offers using this information. In certain cases, some bidders will no longer be able to view Bidder User IDs on the Bid History page. Your User ID will be shown only to you and the seller of the item you're bidding on. Other members will see an anonymous name, such as Bidder 1, applied consistently to the Bid History page."

What the fig is this about now? I am getting more and more disgusted with ebay as time goes on. I can understand how they don't want ebayers to make side deals and take fees away from ebay. But I think this approach is wrong. I will NEVER buy something from a seller who hides bidder's IDs. In the above car I mentioned, what if I wanted to advise someone that the item could be, or is, fraudulently advertised? This could be an open invitation for more sellers to do schill bidding? There is so much scamming on ebay these days, and this is not helping buyers at all.

WHEN I SOLD MY VW CREWCAB THIS SUMMER ON E-BAY , I WAS
SURPRISED TO GET A NOTE FROM ONE OF THE LOOSING BIDDERS
THAT ASKED ME IF THE SECOND CHANCE OFFER I SENT HIM WAS
STILL AVAILABLE .
ECPECIALLY SINCE THE NEW OWNER HAD PICKED UP THE TRUCK
THAT AFTERNOON AND I HAD SENT NO SUCH OFFERS !
ABOUT A MONTH AGO I PUT A $250 BID ON A NICE ISETTA . I WAS
SHOCKED TO GET A SECOND CHANCE OFFER ON THE CAR SINCE IT
CLOSED FOR $22,000 !
SOMEHOW SCAMMERS WERE USING THE VEHICLE BIDDER LISTS
TO GENERATE PHONY OFFERS TO THE LOW BIDDERS . I AM NOT SURE
HOW THIS WORKED BUT THE ANOMINOUS BIDDER NUMBERS ARE
OBVIOUSLY AN ATTEMPT TO STOP THIS ACTIVITY .

Paypal sucks too. A seller sent me an exhaust with minimum padding and bent the shit out of the tips. UPS won't cover it because it was not packed properly and Paypal said they will only do claims on shipping issues.

if you used a credit card, which should be status quo when making payments thru paypal, dispute the charge with your card holder, not paypal...you'll get credit

once you file a dispute with your card holder, ignore paypal's crap they'll flood you with

I will also be hesitant to bid on sellers choosing this option. Buyers should be responsible to protect themselves from scam artists offering second chance offers.
