when you open the thread, top right of the 1st reply should be a box: Threaded view. Toggling that should take you to a different view.
The slowness. mmccurdy was indexing ALL of the old posts from the old boards. That takes time for the server to scan them all. It's for the "Search" function. When that is done (last night/this morning) "speed" on the site should improve.
