Unless you buy a Shrick or NOS Alpina cam. These along with the stock factory cam are quality cams. They are hardened, something many regrinds are not and sometimes claim to be. If it is reground to where you need lash caps, you are stressing the rokers. Furthermore, do you really trust the machinist to keep the alignment of the cam lobes, can he ?
All cams on factory TIs were stock 264 cams unless specially ordered.

Just my opinion.

it is pretty lumpy at idle, so be prepared for a rougher idle than stock. is it 284 that is the next step down? that might help a bit with the idle, yet give you some improved performance...

but i agree, i'd just leave it stock if you don't have anything else modded.

meaning low CR and a stage II (292 Schrick) head with a 32/36. At this point it idles roughly and at about 1200rpms. I either need a stock head on it or I need to bump up the CR to get it to settle down. Mine is a classic example of taking a nice running motor and screwing it up with a very desirable mod (Stage II head)but not looking at the whole package. I'd save the money, do the research and get the motor done the right way...all at once.

It was nice and smooth and pulled strong to well over 6500.
