for attracting over 200k people in Germany. I was not impressed with what he said but attracting 200 thousand people (outside America) to hear you speak is impressive.

My Man that's 200k and a lot of them waving our flag. The speech itself was very generic as it should have been.

Wanna know why he's so popular in Europe? Because he acknowledges the fact that there's intelligent live outside the US borders (....). The last 7 years we've loved to hate that pretend cowboy with his neo-con henchmen that captured your white house.
America and Europe are politically, culturally and historically bonded. Obama understands that. I hope you do too.

Funny that you feel the need to put his middle name in there. I mean, it's not like we are gonna confuse him with another Barack Obama. Just part of the fear campaign.

When I flew down to Winston Salem for V@V, the lady working at the FBO actually said "He's a Muslim, and did ya hear what the preacher at his church said!?" Landreth and I couldn't believe what we heard. We were sure she made a mistake. But then she repeated it. Wow!

What's really funny is watching all you hypocrites whining now after years of complaining about people whining about Bush. Now, imagine if Obama steals the election, lies his way into an unnecessary war that allowed OBL to go free, Afganistan revert to the Taliban and weakened us in the war on terror in general. Oh yeah, and he burns the bill of rights and ruins our economy through unconscionable spending/mismanagement and corruption. Imagine that. You won't be whining then, would ya?

it is his name isnt it. People call Bush a Liar all the time and it does not seem to confuse me from who I think he is. What is wrong with Hussein anyway? It's a traditional Muslim name.

Armond, do you really think we're so stupid that we can't figure out why you use the middle name? I mean, if you want to be a fear monger, have at it. But, be man enough to admit what you are. Geez. (BTW, it didn't seem to me that you were whining, so I the prior comment was not aimed at you. My friend timex knows who I was talking about.)

Ah! But in Bush's case it is an adjective. In Obama's case it's his name. Calling him by his full name and mentioning that it is a traditional Muslim name here is not needed in general conversation to give him distinction. However mentioning that bush a Liar is a descriptive fact and is appropriate in any conversation.

See the difference?

We have a conservative coalition here as well - or right from the center, between 2 christian-democratic parties and a social-democratic one. We're already overrun by muslims and their blending into society is difficult in many ways. Kinda like when the Irish and Italian immigrants set foot on American shores I guess (catholics). There is a serious threat coming from a small fanatic minority (hell, they butchered film director Theo van Gogh... yes, great-great...grandson of Vincents brother).
Muslim terrorism is international, and directed against the entire free world. That means the free world - that is us - should cooperate in defeating it. What your cowboy has done since he took office was to go for american interest only... or better, go for the interest of the oil companies and the military industry. He dismissed NATO and UN like it was never there and forgot everything about historical context.
And don't worry, there's no way those goat fuckers (that's how TvG always called them) will ever seize power in this country. They're too well fed.

Subject: I've heard German music: Guru Guru . . .

In fact I have their first four albums. Late '60s to early '70s was their prime space/psychedelic bent . . .

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guru_Guru

The Dutch are not without their little Nazis. One of my favorite surf/instro bands (I played them on my radio show all the time), and one of the few to have ever been on a major label (Polydor), is the Dutch band "The Treble Spankers." A few years back they were playing at some club and, because surf has a heavy Middle-Easter flavor, when the gig was over they were jumped and had the shit beat out of them by Neo-Nazis who were screaming about them playing Arab music. I had an angry call one time playing a Treble Spankers tune that was heavily Mid-East. The caller said, "What the fuck are you playing that terrorist music for?" and then slamed the phone on me.

http://www.euronet.nl/~emedik/treblesp.htm

http://www.myspace.com/thetreblespankers

The Treble Spankers

"The Treble Spankers are now an integral part of Dutch music history. Their first album Araban earned a cult status at US college radio. The next single Red Hot Navigator became a radio hit in Holland, their second album Hasheeda lingered in the Dutch Album Top 100 for weeks and even stood at the top of Holland’s leading music magazine OOR’s ‘moordlijst’. Glorious shows on the Lowlands festival and Pinkpop proved their triumph is no accident.

Success has not kept the musical cowboys from day-to-day rehearsals in order to excel in front of you as the best and most playing band of this moment. And that’s a good thing too, because a concert by these Amsterdam wags is an experience you are bound to remember for a long time. Their music is rebellious, and as mysterious as the swamps of Sumatra, and expresses the mysticism of the American Indians. One moment you find yourself on a surf board in Waimea Bay, the next you are in a seedy night club in Casablanca in 1942. Several guest musicians and other surprise elements cause a Treble Spankers’ show to be even more exciting.

These musical omnivores don’t care a rap for trends and externals. They provided magnificent songs by diverse artists such as Kraftwerk, Herb Alpert and 2 Unlimited with new energy. Casually, they added a few classics to music history by means of their own brilliant compositions.

The Treble Spankers are the already legendary Marcel ‘Supermod’ Kruup (rhythm guitar), Frank Sloos (a hypnotizing drummer), Maarten Heijblok (bass) and ‘Phantom’ Frank Gerritsen, who not only makes his guitar jump around like Jimi Hendrix in a pinball machine but can also make it sound like a macho flamenco singer from Andalusia. Be sure you get to see The Treble Spankers before they conquer the world!"

Maybe you've only heard Jurgen Drews.

I had the pleasure of seeing a Neo-Nazi "rally" (if you can call about 20 or 30 people shouting and marching a rally) in The Hague last summer. We tried to figure whether they would hate us for being American or Jews, but considering they were protesting against Arab teroristts, I genuinely was confused. So, I decided not to ask.

I did ask one of the cops who was there working crowd control (if you can call 20-30 protesters a "crowd") what was going on and he basicaly said that it was a bunch of idiots jerking off.

Finally, as my sister pointed out when we were in Amsterdam: who do you think turned in Anne Frank?

Yes, the Dutch have their Nazis.

almost all the Jews killed at the behest of german nazis were betrayed their christian countrymen. poland, czech republic and slovakia, the ukraine, denmark, france and italy as well as holland are guilty of this. however, it is likely the majority were ratted out as a result of jealousy and greed rather than politcal philosophy.

although, anti-semetism IS a european tradition.

If you really want to know, the Netherlands delivered the highest number (in percentages of total population) of SS-ers to Hitlers troops. Ironically, they were among the bravest of SS batalions on the eastern front. Keep in mind, that we are like the Germans' little brother and have a language and culture very much alike - yet also very different. So Hitler's ideas of the Noble Aryans was well recieved by many of my countrymen. The general image people have of us all being in the resistance helping the oppressed jew, is a historic lie. German soldiers stationed here had it rather easy, compared to the ones in let's say the Balkan, or Russia. Life pretty much went on like it always had, especially in the rural areas. In the big cities (like Amsterdam, Rotterdam or Eindhoven) it's a different story.
Bottom line, every country tries to polish the good parts of its history, and forget about its ugly parts. If you think the Netherlands was full of resistance, YOU ARE WRONG.

as i hit submit on that post, i realized i forgot fear as a motivator.

i'm sure i can't you anything about the holocaust, or how to feel about it. it was an outrage for the centuries, but it also sprang from deeper-seated animosites than just hitlers' rhetoric. he used anti-semetism, he didn't create it.

how i feel about the holocaust was given depth by the auto-biography of alicia jurman; Alicia, My Story- bantam; 1988. isbn 0-553-05317-5 not a classic like anne frank, but more illuminating. you should read it if you haven't. makes one understand the nessecity of a jewish state.

my overall point- to prove the superiority of american culture over european. the united states of america has never had a national leader who was an open anti-semite. as a meritocracy, we are naturally opposed to finding scapegoats.

as an aside, i hope obama will guarantee israel's security before meeting mr. whathishead from teheran.
