Got alot done yesterday. I got the dash in, and all of the wiring for the front seats. I also got the two quarterlight windows and their seals in. The carpet even started getting glued down last night. This afternoon the windshield and rear glass got installed. I am feeling that the end is near. Can't wait to drive this thing again!

looks great so far, i can only hope my carpet looks as nice as yours once its in.

one suggestion: duct tape will release after it gets wet a few times, and it tends to melt in heat. I'd go over your seals with either caulk on the inside, or possibly aluminum tape on the outside (for the moisture barrier in the doors, that is)

Thanks very much for the suggestion, I will definately make sure to do that.

By the way, thank you so much for your write-up on the headliner in your blog. I don't think I would have been able to put it in without it.

So I went on a rampage of putting the car back together this morning. I got the driver's side essentially finished up. Turned out even better than I had imagined. Now I just have to get my audio guy to come up and straighten out that section of the car, and I need to get my sunroof in. After that I can finally drive the car!

Started building the rear strut bar today. I got the tray that the battery will sit in and the bar across the two towers built. Unfortunately I ran out of welding gas today, so I couldn't finish it up. Here are the pics of how far I am so far:

Been a while since my last update and I have done alot since then too. I finished building and installing the rear strut bar and have finished the carpet. I am so close to driving the car now, I really can't wait. I just need seatbelts to be legal again. After I had installed the strut bar the car wouldn't start. I was being dumb and had forgotten the ground for the block. I hooked a set of jumpers from the block to one of the big bumper bolts and the car started right up.

I installed the seatbelts and have finally been driving the car around a little. I got seatbelts for a E-28. Not a direct bolt in, but happened to fit very nicely with the M seats. Hopefully will finish it soon, but I have been pretty busy. next thing is the center console out of the same maple as the gauge cluster surround.

Congrats on the nice Interior job and paint work. i also have the 6 series seats but have not finished the top part, will show some of photos of what you have done to cover the gap at the top.

I just have a temporary piece for now. It is 1/4" luaun board with carpet on top. I will eventually wrap something different in vinyl that will fit the form of the seats better.

So I've been driving the car around a little bit lately and I have been hearing a little bit of rubbing coming from the rear end on even the slightest of bumps. My car has always looked really low in the rear end, so I just thought the springs must be worn out. I have another set of stock springs from my parts car that I decided I would throw in until I get new ones. When I pulled the wheels off and pulled one of the springs out this is what it looked like compared to my other ones:



They are just stock springs that have been cut. I was a little annoyed that I hadn't noticed this before. I also noticed another little goody while I was underneath:



I knew that my rear bushings were all a little worn out, but this is rediculous! Guess I will really notice an improvement when I rebuild that rear end with urethane.

Oh well. The car actually sits where it is supposed to now and I don't have anymore rubbing, plus it seems to be more seated on the road around corners.

I received the new door panel boards that I ordered from Dave at Aardvark. These are truly top quality. I should have them all put together and in this weekend. I also started the maple center console piece and should have the rough cut out done by the end of this weekend.

So close to being done with the interior now.

This is really inspiring me to get a move on with my inteior. I have the only02 carpet on its way and a friend who has stencils to cut new door cards. Cant wait!

An H-Krix style console would be awsome too....

So close to being done now. I finally got my Aardvark door panels put together and installed. I put new door brakes in while I was in there too. I also made the center console out of maple. It turned out great. Here are a couple of pics:

You work quick man!

Did you do anything to refurb the felt or squeegee on the door panel upper chrome trim? I'm looking for any shortcuts or ideas to keep me from having to buy $300 trim pieces...

Yea, I will be slowing down soon, school starts in a week. Summer vacation is nice for these things.

I just left the the old felt and squeegee the way they were for now. I might have some door panels done in blue and black later, so I will redo them then.

Center console is finished and installed. I also got my head unit and new speakers installed this past week. Sounds pretty good, but I still need some speakers up front. I think I will put them into the two underdash panels all the way to the sides of the dash. That way I don't have to cut my door panels, and it will be easier to run wire there too. Here are the pictures of the center console and all of its accessories:









Now I have to go out and wash the thing!

Washed all of the buffing compound from when the car got painted today. Car is really close to being complete at this point. Only just some odds and ends left to do.
