I've never actually heard the word spoken out loud and have always wondered how it's pronounced.

GUY-bow or GWEE-bow

Anyone?

Please, have another beer on me. I'd get it for you if I could.

I say gWHEEEEE boeeee because it makes me feel good and it more accurately describes my driving experience. For what it's worth I've heard both mutterings from reputable folks in the know. We "Yanks" mutilate the Kings English every day and I manage not to lose any sleep over it. You can also call it a flexible driveshaft coupling if pronunciation is particularly troublesome.

Let's hear more from other people. . . how do you say guibo and why in 25 words or less. c'mon lets have fun with this.

I always pronounced it Geeeeeebo.
I think the FAQers from Quebec pronounce it similarly as Guy-Beau.

No matter how you pronounce it will all sound different with that ~southern~ Alviso drawl. :^)

Yea, things are different out here in the swamps of Alviso. If it goes out I may just drill 8 holes in a hockey puck and run that.

I always call it a GWHEE-bow.

Then again - my wife told me the other day that I can't pronounce carafe.

I've heard Alfa guys (the ones who have guibos, as ours are flex-discs) pronounce it "jew-bow". No idea if it is correct or not, but would be good to know. While we're on the subject...bill-shteen or bill-shtine? (northern Germany or southern?)

Upper right hand: "Don't forget to use the search." This topic, like so many others, has been discussed several times. There are many places to search for this answer besides this forum. Try the original spelling: G-I-U-B-O.

In German, when 2 vowels go a-walking, the 2nd one does the talking.
"ie" = eee
"ei" = eye

i skip the controversy and call them....flex disk

more consonants....fewer choices of sounds the vowels offer
