For brand new grills, that's the going rate.

The seller can ask for the moon and if s/he gets it then who is right?

What is the purpose of your post, to put the sale in a bad light or get a much better price.?

Do some comparison shopping and you will find the grille much less expensive. But you may have to wait. If someone is desperate enough, they will pay the price. What is new with this?

I'm not sure how long you've been around BMW 2002s, but I can tell you that TEN YEARS ago - the pre 74 grilles were easily over $200 per side. $600 for a pair now doesn't seem so insane. Go price out an entire pre-74 front bumper from the dealer - and you'll see why I haven't parallel parked Emily in 11 years.

Prices have increased considerably over the past few years; the sinking dollar has not helped.
A recent hit & run on my Touring adds up to:-
Fender - $325
Centre Bumper - $335
Corner Bumper - $360
Headlight (Reflector & Glass) - $200
for a grand total of $1220. It helps to have a parts car or two.
I just hope no one runs in the back of the Touring, because we will be talking some serious coin for that.

Massively misinformed would be my guess.

At 02-02-02 I sold a pair of rear bumper ends for $100 and I gave a couple grilles to my mechanic the same year. Today, that would be unheard of unless you were a rich SOB that wanted to do good for everyone. I only match up with the latter part of that sentence......

I recently did a spreadsheet on a restoration project that includes ALL exterior trim pieces...that means the brightwork as well as the rubber parts.

I'd post the total, but by the time I enter it on the forum the prices from Germany will increase by 20%.

Needless to say, the old parts (in all their glorious patina) that were removed will be up for sale, including a set of '74-only factory 5" x 13" alloys.

FWIW, I checked the prices on both realoem AND Maxmillian's site. Max will go broke if he sticks to that old price sheet.

I've purchased whole parts cars for $3-500
just for the shiny bits.

'it doesn't run and is rusty' is hard to sell...
'nice grilles' are hard to find!
