What do I have to do to remove it? What hoses do I have to plug? Then again do I need it?

Subject: Vent the tank through the trunk floor.

On most 2002s you will find a hole through the brace just to the left of the gas tank ( the brace in the center of the trunk that divides the gas tank opening from the spare tire well). This hole was designed into the car for the Euro-spec fuel tank vent, which was just a hose leading to the underside of the car. Remove the vapor canister and the associated hoses; run a hose from the tank vent port to the underside of the car through that vent hole. Just beware that your car won't pass the visual emissions inspection that way.

Mike
