Subject: So I have a big tire and suspension problem!!

I just got my 1975 on the road for the first time this past week. The car had a set of Pansports on it so I went and got new tires put on that are the same size as the old ones. Well I started hearing some rubbing whenever I made a hard turn or had the tires turned and hit a bump. Well I was backing out of my driveway and the rubbing was very loud. I got out and the finder had shaved some of the tire off on the corner. The suspension is very tight on the car and I was told by the previous owner that he thought the car was lowered but not sure how much.

I did some measurements on the car and this is what I came up with.
Rims 15 inches across.
On the front from the ground to the start of the finder is 22 inches.
On the rear from the ground to the finder is 23 ½ inches.

Don’t want to get rid of the rims/tires. Thought about seeing if I can get the finders rolled out but not sure if you can do that on the 2002. Maybe replace the front springs but not sure what to go with.

SO what should I do? I would appreciate any advice.

I have 15's on my car and it was rubbing when I got it. When I bought the car it had 60 profile tires on it, and when I bought new tires I ended up going with 50 profile. Hasn't rubbed since, and I even ran them really hard at a recent track day and suffered no rubbing. Lower the profile of the tires bud.

Roll out your wheel arches or fold the inner ends of the arches in a U-shape. There are specialists who do this.

Subject: rollling fenders isn't hard

Rolling the fenders is pretty basic, just take a baseball bat or pipe and wedge it between the tire and the fender. Then you just use the leverage to roll the lip up. There is a good chance the paint will chip when you do this, due to the flexing.

My fenders are rolled, and I also took a grinder to the inside lip to cut that back a little. If you do this, make sure to sand smooth. You can't tell unless you stick your head in the wheel well.
