Subject: Looking for a clean roundie near Toronto...

Im in the market for a clean (rust-free as much as possible) close to toronto.. Im willing to do a little roadtrip to pick it up... No problem... As long as the car runs well and has minimal rust... An upgraded 02 would be a bonus (webers, recaros etc.) But even pretty much stock wouldnt bother me either... Let me know... Thanks..

It's too bad I'm not selling my 1968 great condition roundie. I doubt you'll want to wait a couple years though. I am one of the rare ones that actually prefer the square tail light models. Here are the sites I checked on every week which got me my roundie. Don't forget to check for cars in NY state and Michigan. My car was listed as being "close to Buffalo" but was actually in Owen Sound. You can also post want adds on most of the sites below for free.

I'm also looking for a roundie.

I spoke with the guy who has the 7500$ blue one today. He know nothing about 2002 and has been driving this car in the snow and salt for years. The car has been maintained by a reputated bmw mechanic here in Montreal and I went to see him today... Says it would be a honest buy at around 4000$ (can) but I might take a long time for the owner to realise that.

This one is going to be mine so please do not take it from me but if you guys want to help, make him understand the real value of is car...

As for the 2002tii, I went to see it with my father 2 months ago, (I have been helping him restoring one for 2 years part time) We jacked the car and spent an hour inspecting it. It is not a tii but has tii front suspension. Rusted rockers, perforation inside the fender, unknown engine (not from a 2002).Bad sunroof, Bad interior, weird shifter links, bad offset wheels, very, very, very bad paint (5 times worst that on the picture) He dropped the price 3000$ after our visit... was really insulted by our comments and estimated value

Good ansa, confirmed rear suspension (green i think) Good carbs. Engine seemed good but we did not bother for a road test...

Still the guy is very honnest, has his own bmw garage and intends to slowly restore the car until he find a buyer.

Good luck

Lukas > Thanks Ill keep checking for a good one :)

To be honest Im not really looking for a tii... (it would be good, dont get me wrong) But I also went and saw one, but the deal didnt go threw.. I need a car for the end of march / beg. Apr. The reason tii is not for me right now is because Im going to feel so bad modifying it. (flares motor work etc...) If I get a tii Id want it stock (practically)... Im more looking for a roundie with the potential for a m20 or an s14 conversion...

Creepy, you and me are like brothers from different mothers. This morning before I read your reply I was planning out a post for this site getting peoples opinions for the best 2002, which I still plan on doing. The three choices would be (a) 2002tii, (b) a regular 2002 with fuel injection, turbo charger, lots of other engine mods or (c) a 2002 with a E30 M3 engine in it.

Basically in a few years I get a flared square light tii or I create this: http://www.autoholic.de/members/BMW_2002tii_4124.html

That is the one in my head. That is exactly what I want my next 2002 to look like whether it's a tii or has that engine. I want polaris grey with the flared wheel wells, square tail lights, etc. If this guy lived in North America I would be all over him in a couple of years begging him to sell it to me. The one that I have is the wrong colour and year as well its just too original to bastardize .
I don't know that much about cars and that's one of the reasons I bought this car. It is a great car to learn on cause it is so simple yet so modifiable. I have dived into this thing head first and am trying to learn as much as I can so I can create the ultimate car I want out of a bastardized polaris square tail light.

Not sure which one I'll pick.

Anyway this site also has a great classifieds section which I forgot to mention.

thanks lukas,
that car looks great... we got about the same idea on the mods, I like something that uses the bmw upgrades but has its unique touch...
Good luck with your project :)
