The original email from Esty went something like this.....
" I am looking for a tan carpet for my 2002. I would like a sample of everything you offer in tan, around $200. Upon looking at your sample page, I think that I would like to see Fawn, and Saddle".
My reply went something like this.....
" I don't offer a lot of tan in the $200 range, and I don't suggest using the fawn. It is rather nasty, and not a set I would sell to anyone. If you would like to spend more, I can supply some more samples in tan".
After that, I cut a small swatch of saddle, grabbed a business card, and dropped them both in an envelope. I addressed the envelope, and then dropped it in a mailbox the following day, on my way home from work. It arrived in Shitwater Mississippi almost 2 weeks later.
As they say, the rest is history. Well, not entirely, I left out the part where I was going to GIVE, for FREE a front hood moulding to Esty, which she needed to finish her car.
What did I learn from this? If someone wants a sample, depsite how nasty it is, I should supply it. Or, the other lesson, I should stop selling $200 carpet sets, as they are barely worth my time, at least in this case.

Nevermind, I will post a pic of our brown, entry level carpet for you. Just so you don't think my posting a pic of the wool was devious for some reason.
It is worth noting that is our VERY FIRST carpet set we ever did. That car provided the pattern, and the original test fitting. Despite that, it is still nice enough to warrant being on my website.

And perhaps, in the future you could be more sensitive to the needs of your customers, and return their calls in a more timely fashion.
I believe that it is normal that a customer gets upset, when they are ignored and monies have changed hands.
And we as an 02 group would have never had to watch this debacle, in the first place.
and since this is the personal attacks thread, I cant get any nicer. |
I agree 110%. When I first started Seams Perfect, customer service was second to none. I used to be able to tell you the names, what year, and what colour 02, and most of the cities in which every one of my customers lived. Many of them had my cell phone number, and more than once, I pulled over to take a call on my way home from work. I once spent nearly half an hour on the phone, long distance to Puerto Rico, sitting in my 535i 4 blocks from my house.
Since then, things have changed. We got busier and busier, to the point that I could no longer personally take any phone calls. If I answered the phone while I was at the shop, my productivity went to hell, and then people were angry that their items weren't getting done in time. It's a double edged sword. So, I quit taking phone calls, and stayed working in the shop. Then I hired more staff, and expanded my business, to the point where I became a delegator, rather than a worker anymore. At that point, no time for phone calls, or email. It's a slippery slope.
Ultimately, what I need is a good counter person. Someone who can answer the phone, deal with customers, and make sure people are informed. I'm actually thinking of bringing my soon to be retired mother into the fold, so she can do that a few days a week. Time will tell if that works, I guess.
I have never, ever ripped anyone off, or forgotten about anyone. I live, and breath me shop, and my patrons. I never wanted to have customer service complaints, it actually pains me to have them. I lose sleep over it, I stress about it, and I even lost my marriage because of this shop, and the amount of time I dedicated to it. In hindsight, if I knew what this place was going to cost me, I would have closed shop 2 years ago, and went back to work for someone else. Simply not worth it.

Oh PLEASE tell me how that is a memory failure. I DO have the original email convo, but it's at the shop computer, and I'm at home on my laptop. I would love to hear your version, please?
Oh, and you're right, I only got 4 carpets shipped out last week, 3 short. I admit it, and I know it's my fault, such is life. The rest will go next week.
Best part is, do you want to know WHY the last sets didn't get done in time? I actually took a little spill on some nasty, slippery front steps at my mom's house. I have a bruise over 6" inches in diameter on my forearm, and a couple matching ones on my upper back, and waist. The arm one is worst though, as it actually impaired my ability to work for several days.
And before you post some stupid banner that says "if it ain't something....blah blah blah", I can post a pic of the bruise. It's a bad one, with a really nice contusion in the middle of it. Doc said I was lucky I didn't break my arm, and lucky I work out regularly, so my back recovered quickly. FUN.

Well, Kirin was at the shop yesterday, and I had him shoot a pic of my bruise. He's on a ferry to Vancouver Island right now, but as soon as he uploads it, I'll post it. I actually measured it, and it goes from my elbow, half way up my forearm, and is shaped like the edge of concret stairs. There is a white hemotoma in the middle of it, looks like a golf ball.
Coputer blew up it's motherboard couple months back. Was fixed under warranty by HP, but somewhere, I have a copy of the repair order.
Internet/email down? Hell yes, check this season's weather in my area. Have a look at the wind storms, rain storms, and snow thay knocked hundreds of people's power out, as well as cable, telephones, you name it. My internet is STILL spotty, and they are doing rolling brown outs of all the street lights in my area these days. Nasty stuff.
Phone never got disconnected, but the shop phone is a cell phone, and it got lost for quite some time, when one of my guys brought it home in his pocket. Shit happens.

i'd be willing to bet all the dudes, if any DID NOT get what they were promised when they paid larson
again, are you one of the 6 or 7 that paid for a carpet set to be delivered by xmas...if not, then perhaps you might consider STFU because you have no credibility in the matter and are not qualified to answer |

simply stating promised by, received by doesn't mean anything...did you order a set of new carpet from larson in mid november and did you get it before today?
it's really a simple, easy to answer question...either yes you did order and recv your carpet or no you didn't order |
