Subject: sub forums

i realize the preference of the admin and some other members, however, as the forum grows, the dynamics change...you can't have or expect growth without understanding that things are going to evolve

one suggestion that may help reduce the stress of the admin worrying about "what things look like"....knowing some magazines visit, etc, i understand the need to want to maintain a certain image...having said that, i don't agree with the notion of making appearances for the benefit of personal agendas

what i would suggest is to make all forums except general hidden to all non members...there are a host of ways to make it available to members that are interested...

1st, any registered member that wants to participate in or even view the contents of, for example, our personal attack forum has to request from the admin that he/she be allowed...by doing so, those members have nothing to gripe about, they ask'd to be let in

2nd, i'd find someone that's on the board quite often, unlike bobby and make them a mod...even a few people to cover the 24 hours...allow them to move what you define as inappropriate to the hidden forums

currently, as it appears, a problem has been stated without any mention of how to fix it...ignoring it won't make it go away...complaining that you don't like it won't either....

as stated, the dynamics are what they are....why not work with what you have & make it workable for everyone...leaving things as they are or trying to regulate every topic and what people can talk about will only created a more divisive forum than any of us want...

if anyone has any better suggestions....spill your guts

Esty,

I think you missed my point. I don't want to have mud slinging, pissing matches, or flame wars on this site. Not allowing people to see them, does not eliminate the problem, it hides it under the rug. I have put a lot of time and effort into this p[lace and it is very hard for me to understand why anyone would want to bring this trash into my home and think that is is perfectly reasonable thing to do and i that i have accept and make a place for it.

sorry i tried to make a difference....surely the time has come then, for you to start handling things like roadfly and bimmerforums....cut all the crap that doesn't suit you and your hand pick'd group of members and start banning people you personally don't want around

where there are at least 2 people, in time, you are going to have arguments....that's a fact you may not be aware of steve

you last reply does not really constitute as a suggestion or a question, so a reply to it is located in your other personal attack thread.
