I looked it over this morning. Original craigslist ad: http://www.craigslist.com/eby/car/103515388.html

It's actually a '76 (mfgd. 04/76 and with thermal reactor). Sold as is becasue it won't pass CA smog. But it is a very decent starting point, with very little rust that I saw (rockers look good, spare tire well is original and very clean, rear shock towers are solid). Only body damage is visible in photos, left front bumper shock was pushed in and pulled out, with surrounding metal mangled). Sunroof operates, tan interior is workable, starts and runs but loses coolant so suspect head gasket. The head looks like an E12 with a '74 date stamp (can't believe the car has original head but stranger things have happened). Has Weber carb w/ K&N, steel wheels with new tires, Bilsteins (feel like sports), even a radio.
Worth a look. Seller's name is Cecil, it's in Alameda (next to Oakland) his number is (510) 865-2787.
I have no interest or affiliation, except that I want to live vicariously through whoever gets this car because I always wanted sunroof car.

Yes, the car really is Agave green. The front spoiler looks like an old fiberglass zender (with the two round holes for venting brakes). It's not mounted. And the belt line trim and door trim has been removed and holes filled. Not sure if they were welded bondo-ed.
Good luck.

Subject: That's a perfect car for Mike Self

Mike was thinking of doing a Roundel article on buying a 76 CA 2002 and the adventures of the drive back to the midwest. There is an abundance of quality 76 2002's for sale in CA now due to that 76's still have to under go smog testing. 75 and earlier are smog exempt here in CA now that CA has done away with the rolling 30 year rule. This rule now makes CA 76 2002's attractive to out of state buyers. It's a bitch to get a 30 year old car to pass smog here in CA (especially cars with carbs). Go to the 2002FAQ For Sale page to look at the cars for sale.
