Todd,
Have they actually started to paint your car yet? Seems like almost three months is way too long to have to wait to get a paint job, I don't care where you are. If I was you, I'd more than likely be super pissed off for having to wait that long and regardless if they've started the process, I'd just be like "thank you very much, my car is now being taken elsewhere". Do you actually know the people painting it? I mean like, are they good friends of your's or are they local, or did you pick them because they had the best price when they gave you a quote? I know things sure can add up when you are trying to fix your car, and if you don't believe me, just ask and I'll send you my most recent invoice from when the tranny went bad, but I'm sure most of you have already had a look at that. It seems awfully rude to put other people's cars in front of your's when you have been waiting for so long.
The longest I've ever had to wait was 2 weeks for when I needed some major smash repair. The guy was excellent and spent all his spare time after work to complete my car. So don't get discouraged, there are people out there who actually give a damn about other people and are considerate towards them in regards to getting their car back on the road.
But other than that, keep on them. Whenever I get some jerk telling me to "come back tomorrow" and it's still not done by then, I start hassling them. Visit the shop everyday if it's not too far from where you live or work. If you can't visit, call and say "how's the car coming?" Let them know you are in charge and that you haven't forgotten that they work for you, not the other way around. I think it's just getting on my nerves that I keep checking your updates for your project and keep seeing "I should get the car back from the panel beater soon" or something similar to that. On the other hand, hope you're still doing well because I haven't heard from you in a while. Keep in touch!
