Me too, but...
It should come as no surprise that this could be double-edged sword - there are probably some very knowledgeable people who could really contribute to the discourse here but won't if they have to disclose their real names. Imagine if, say, Jay Leno or that Jamiroquai guy showed up here wanting just to talk '02s. ;-)
That said, I think requiring simple registration to post is a good thing. Obviously, people can always sign up with a new user ID if banned (and banning should be used very sparingly and certainly not for just stating unpopular opinions), but at least it will help sort out who is saying what over time. For example, I'd like to be able to put some of the great anon tech posts together so I can asses their credibility regarding the things I don't have experience with by comparing to posts made about stuff I do know about. It will also make it easier to know whose posts to ignore.
Also, having to jump through that simple hoop is probably enough to discourage a lot of the hit-and-run anon posters - too much work. Add a 30 minute time delay to the process and you would probably wipe them out entirely.
regards,
Zenon
