Subject: Insulation Pads for Hood, Trunk Lid - *New reduced pricing*

Aluminum reflective hood pads are back in stock. It is the same 1/4 closed cell technical foam with 1mil of aluminum added.

Benefits of adding the aluminum is that is provides an excellent barrier to convective heat transfer. The foil stops about 75% of the convective heat. Add this to the insulating properties of the foam and this is a very superior product.

I need to get pictures of it on the car, but need to find someone that is willing to take a picture with it installed.

Price - $50.00 + shipping.

Material description:
Closed cell technical foam. Material is black. It is highly flexible and has a similar feel to neoprene. It's smooth on the backside with the front having a almost flocked feel and look. This material will not support mold or mildew growth and has a very high resistance to oil and fuel. It has a heat temperature rating up to 245 degrees and is self extinguishing when exposed to flame. It is UL and FAA approved. Was used on the space shuttle and several military applications.

Manufacture suggests applying with 3M Super 77 or 80. For hood, the suggestion is to use 80.

I will take the front and back set if you can include the shipping to 92651.

What brand of radiator are you running? I just ordered a Mishimoto MMRAD-E30-82.

JC TII sent me a mail...I am waiting for a response. If he doesn't get them in the next few hours...your next in line. I am also getting some more material in a couple of days and will be making more. I'm also thinking of expanding to aluminum faced material if there is interest. Also in addition to these, I am working on a door panel set. Just depends on interest.

Yes. I've finally gotten the price down to make it more affordable. I was able to swing a deal with the manufacture by buying more material in bulk.

My project isn't on the road yet. But it sure has to be more quiet than the three pieces that are OEM.

I did notice that the trunk sounds quieter when you close the boot lid.

And, thank you.

I just me some for the hood! Very excited to install it.

If I like it, the trunk is next.

Do I use 3M tape or glue?

Manufacture suggests the use of 3M Super 77 spray glue. Just make sure to mask off the engine compartment and hood supports. It went pretty smooth for me on the install.

I am a little confused, sorry, dahhh!!!! Are you selling the black pads or the aluminum pads. Which are best or is it just esthetics. Also is there a price differential, or actually what is the price for both trunk and hood.
Thanks and sorry.

Selling both 1/4" aluminum reflective and 1/4" black insulation.

Both the aluminum and plain black perform really well. The aluminum protects better against heat transfer.

Subject: As a suggestion...

do not use 3M 77 spray for the installation. The temperature resistance of 77 is about 120F it will fail sooner than later. The 3M Rubber and Vinyl 80 Spray or at an automotive parts seller 3M Super Trim Adhesive Yellow p/n 08090 has a temp resistance of well over 180F.

I used Spray 80 on my hoodliner.

Not so shameless plug:

Data pages are on the left side of page, I couldn't find Spray 80 on our website below??

Hi,
Does anyone happen to know whether that 3M adhesive 80 is still even available. I have checked here in Chicago and I can't find it and the 3M site says it is obsolete. Is there a replacement that you guys know about?
Thanks,
PS. The 77 is readily available, any thoughts.

I found this on the Shop 3M. Should be good. 3M™ General Trim Adhesive 8088, 18.1 oz Net Wt or 3M™ Yellow Super Trim Adhesive 08090, 19 oz Net Wt

I used 77 and haven't had any issue with it falling down yet, but cannot guarantee the heat won't cause it to. Just not sure at how hot the metal underneath the insulation will get.

Couple of items. The factory hood pads reduced noise. They were comprised on 3 individual square pieces of open cell foam. Still available. I didn't like them.

I created a template that covers the entire underneath of the bonnet/boot. The benefit is reduced noise, reduced heat transfer to protect paint, and my main reason, engine bay/boot dress up.

Hi Anthony,

I'll purchase the aluminum hood pads. I purchased the trunk pads on eBay and paid for the shipping too. Please let me know how to pay for the hood pads and if I owe any more for shipping.
Regards,
