Subject: Speedometer Markings

I searched but couldn't find anything in the archives, though I could swear I saw someone post this answer.

What markings on the back of the speedometer indicate which differential gear ratio that it's matched to? I have a `76 2002 with (I'm pretty sure) a 3.64:1 ratio.

Which speedometer should I be looking for?

How about knowing how it is determined, then you never need to scratch for the answer! It is the number of cable turns per mile. So take your driveshaf turns per mile and divide by the speedometer gear ratio of the transmission (2.5:1). (Easy hint, engine rpm in direct drive gear / 2.5 at 60mph).

Using the mph to kph conversion factor of 1.62 results in a W of 1.36 which is in line with the others.

i will check the speedo i have in stock so that will tell me a lot ;)

( i have 7-10 speedo/clutsters here an there in my home basement)
