I finished my first valve adjust and the car started up right away. The loud knocking from the head is gone now. I only twisted off one of the nuts, so rather than a 1 hour job it turned into a 2 week job.

I was planning on replaceing the points, condenser, rotor and cap at the same time, but with a flash of inspiration I decided to go one step at a time. That way, if it woudn't work, I would only have to back track one step rather than several possible problems.

The valves are confusing the first time (even with the FAQ instructions) but the next time I won't be intimidated as much.

By the way, I jacked up the right rear wheel, removed the spark plugs and just turned the wheel to rotate the motor. Very simple!

That is just one of the many items on my checklist taken care of.
