Didn't want to intrude on the other discussion, so I posted here = = but the ole bug is great!

If you're running Weber (40?) IDFs let me know! I have some leftover (new) seals and such (linkage arms? acc pump diaphragms? have to look again) from ones I used on my typ IV bus motor. I'll gladly mail 'em off to you for collection of V Dub spares. Just e mail me an address in VA!

Paul,

My carbs are the "NLA" Dellorto 40 DLRA units (purchased in 1995!) with newer crossbar linkage from Gene Berg Ent.

Thanks for the parts offer, but my car has soaked up all my $ from several years ago.

I have a spare engine case in my garage gathering dust, along with a 66 short block with 6V flywheel stored at my parent's house - interested?.

I learned the hard way back in high school that you don't buy cheap parts and expect them to last. Almost everything on/in the engine is new (including the case).

If you aren't familiar with Gene Berg Enterprises, I would highly recommend reading their Technical Information Guides on the VW. I consulted with Gene himself on my camshaft selection before he passed away. I've got a set of CB Performance 044 CNC ported heads and matching manifolds waiting to be installed - someday.

I might have to do some unexpected engine work on the tii. I'd love to have the K-F pump rebuilt and put in new injectors someday.

Hey Jim,

I don't do any VW stuff these days (sold my bus a couple years ago - reluctantly). I learned a little bit about the awful quality stuff being offered out there, though. The thing came with a nearly new GEX motor....need I say more? ...it ATE 1/2" off a couple of the lifters due to completely incorrect valve springs - this had me scratching my head for WEEKS as I learned all about type IV motors and parts suppliers. *sigh*. I built a fresh motor, dialed in the carbs - and it was an absolute BLAST to bomb around town in! Fitted a 2002 tach to it, too....fit perfectly! Ugly as sin, but rust free, and I spent all my energy making the motor pretty. Wish I had pix of that one.

Someday I'll get another - but with an earlier (less expensive than typ 4) motor.

I've heard good things about Jake Raby and his work on Type IV engines. He is located in Georgia.

www.aircooledtechnology.com and www.massivetype4.com

If you are ever in the area (Springfield), stop by and we'll take the Bug for a spin. I have easy 495 Beltway access from Telegraph Road.
