Subject: 318is values?

Hey gang,

So why are all the e30 318is' being snatched up?! I'm debating about selling mine before it becomes a money pit to fix the engine issues- but does anybody know why the 90-91 IS models are sought after all of a sudden? Makes me want to keep it....

because they are
#1 great cars
#2 frugal on gas
#3 bulletproof
#4 great cars

seriously, i just sold mine for $4800 and rebought the 325i i traded for a 325ix 4 months ago.

i owned my '91 318is for 2.5 years, which is a long time for me to own any daily driver, and it's probably the best bmw i've owned ever. great handling, great motor, light, nimble, great brakes etc. they are also somewhat rare, especially in clean stock condition. i was at an e30 meet up here in the PNW a few weeks ago and had two unsolicited offers to buy my car.

there was one on craigslist in seattle with 97k miles, stock, graeat shape, for $6200

I considered it a baby m3 as well-- but I think people are catching on! Even ones with severe motor problems are getting snatched up quickly....makes me reconsider to just non-op mine and hang onto it for a while...despite all its body issues

Subject: anything with 4 cyl is more expensive now

Try to find a decent used 4 cyl car... I just sold our E36 318i for 3k, it had 200,000 miles and I think I sold it too cheap. It lasted just hours. Someone told me that they had seen a Geo Metro advertized recently for $7500! The other cars that are getting more expensi ve to buy are the 318ti's.
