Not mine, no affiliation, etc...

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/pts/742294033.html Seller is advertising this as a rusty tii. If you have a good shell, this would be a great donor car to transfer all the tii parts to. Take everything, wiring harness, cut the air cleaner brackets off the inner fender, mount for the fuel pump under the car, etc... Car was last registered in 07, make sure the car was registered non-op, otherwise when you apply for a junk title at the DMV, they will want the back fees. You'll feel the love from your neighbors when you take the sawzall to this car.

Please give me your opinion...

I'm restoring my 74 Atlantik tii and went to have a look at this car last night (btw, it is registered non-op). Painful to see... formerly a genuine Inka tii. Sheet metal is literally disintegrating off the frame. However, the engine and drive train look quite salvageable - Even the KF pump looks to be in decent shape. It'd probably start w/ the some careful coaxing. Many other usable parts too: seats, interior trim, good windows, undamaged (but somewhat crusty) belt molding, bumpers, etc.. The owner is retiring up north and basically just wants the car off his driveway.

I'm probably crazy, but I'm considering buying the car for it's obvious parts value to help w/ my resto project. Does $875 sound like a good price? In addition, would you have any suggestions on an inexpensive means of hauling it off? I have AAA (Plus)... any one ever put their service to use for something like this? Thanks in advance!

Seller is asking $875, bring cash, trailer and make an offer. If the boxed in rear trailing arms, struts , gas tank, fuel pump, etc.. (tii unique parts) are still in decent shape, I'd go for it. Tii parts are getting harder to find and more expensive. You can always sell the parts you don't want and recoup your money. If you can get it for $600, the seller may be happy to get it out of his driveway.

How did a CA tii get so rusty? I'm guessing the tii was originally from back east or was parked outside near the ocean in the salt air for years.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree, there's some good stuff left on the car for sure. Now I only need to find a yard or a garage to haul it off to... a huge drawback to apartment living...

The car is a case study in advanced damage from fallout... the location is literally right in the take-off flight path of SFO. In fact a 747 passed overhead at low altitude when I was there. Combined with it never being washed/waxed for years, and an often very foggy climate (so characteristic of SF and west Peninsula) there was no hope.

Wish me luck!
