Subject: What is this car?

My dad sent this cell picture from the Ingolstadt Audi museum. It looks pretty cool, but I can't find anything like it on a "classic audi" or "vintage audi" google image search, I figured someone on here has to know..

Looks a lot like an Audi F103.. I don't think thats what it is though.
Heres a picture. Its also kind of similar to the DKW F102 but that was just the predecessor to the F103.

Looks like a NSU TT with some different headlights....

Yeah, after looking at a bunch of images, I think you are right. I read that the Audi TT took its name after this, maybe thats how it ended up in an Audi museum ?

Having never heard of NSU, I was surprised to see a ton of sweet racing shots online. I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to most European vintage autos, so I appreciate the responses.

This Wikipedia entry will help you sort out the family ties between NSU and Audi :

I would have guessed NSU also.

I've been lucky enough to get exposure to all kinds of obscure / vintage / landmark / historic European cars over the last 5 or 6 years through vintage race crew work.

check out these amazing little cars:

Alpine-Renault also called Renault Alpine - a tiny bad ass car!
ANYTHING Abarth
Lotus Cortina
Lotus Elan (67 -69 era)
Daimler SP250 "Dart"
Mini Moke..funny...it's a car that rhymes with "joke"! I've driven one at speed - they're hilarious!
Elva Mk VII (some BMW powered)
Ginetta G16 (some BMW powered)...sexiest sports racer of all time. The name Ginetta is around still making "modern" cars - but the 1960s era G16 is my all time favorite.

Google to your hearts content! Bring a bowl to drool in.

Paul

Man, thanks for the suggestions, but no thanks for putting off my college studies for an hour and a half. Its cool to look up these cars and find that some of them have a group of fanatics similar to the 02 crowd.

Thanks again for sharing- and the Mini Moke is definitely one of the most absurd cars I've ever seen, that would be awesome to get around town in.

If you liked the Mini Moke, try the Citroen Mehari and the Fiat Jolly.

When I was a kid I was lucky enough to have an older female cousin who loved European cars. Among the cars she owned at one time or another were a Triumph Herald convertible, a German Ford Consul (with a V4 engine IIRC), a Renault Caravelle and a Peugeot 404. Then she got married to a guy who owned a Ford dealer and has been driving boring cars ever since...
