I'm selling my MM 4 speed close ratio race box to help fund the purchase of a 5 speed dog box for GT3 class racing. The MM gearbox has had very little use since it was built - maybe 8-10 track days total (my race car has been sitting for a few years now and has had very little use due to time constraints) and works perfectly.
I spoke to Jim Rowe yesterday and he told me the ratios for that box are as follows:
1st - 2.90
2nd - 1.65
3rd - 1.30
4th - 1.0
Checking the MM website, the gearing is listed as 3.0, 1.6, 1.3 and 1.0 respectively, so Jim Rowe may have been slightly inaccurate in his statement over the phone, but the ratios are very similar. As compared to the stock 4 speed the car originally had the gearing between 2nd-4th is nicely tightened up. The tranny shifts quickly and smoothly and would be a great upgrade for a hot street 2002 or BMW club racer.
I paid over $2000 for it several years back (MM now prices it at $3500!) but will take $1200. I am located in Connecticut.
Regards,
Ed

I'm quite interested in the MM 4 speed (I've got a race car as well) - please email me at 7t2 - at - mindspring.com at your earliest convenience. Thanks.

Follow up . . . if it's easier for you, call me at 310-990-8627. Presuming we can sort out a few details about the transmission, I'll buy it. Ken

I just wanted to clarify that my price is FIRM and DOES NOT INCLUDE SHIPPING. I paid $2300 + $300 core charge for this very lightly used tranny 10 years ago so $1200 in my opinion is very reasonable.

I think this is a good alternative to 5 spd conversion. Any takers and what's the right differential gear ratio for this. Very interested

I've been in contact with the seller and we're closing the deal - I'm sure he or I will post if there's other news.
