They are unique. For USA, the parts books shows 63 21 1 351 669 for left and 63 21 1 351 670 for right. I am looking at mine right now (orange center, dated 11.Jan.73) and the difference is that the two red reflectors are slightly different. One has a large mesh reflector pattern, and the other red one has a smaller pattern and a thicker depth. They are not on the car so I can't tell you which is which right now.

I just looked at my car and the large mesh red reflectors are on the outside. So, yes, there is a left and right lens. See the photo of the passenger side tail light of the 2002ti in Brisbane photos posted today.

OK, now I'm confused! I think we can say with some certainty that there are right and left rear round tail light lenses. However, after comparing the orange ti and blue tii in the Brisbane 08 posting of today, the large red mesh reflectors are on the inside on the blue car (plate # EXVO86) and on the outside on the orange car (sorry, didn't have time to look up the proper colors). I think this is important because the inside red lenses are the brake lights (atleast on my car) and should be as bright as possible. So what's the proper rotation alignment of the lens????
Thanks,
