I checked the box for the first time in a long time last week and noted the oil was at least an inch down - kinda hard to tell in that little hole. So I topped it off. Have not driven it much since. Noticed yesterday the nice puddle of fresh 90 wt under the front.
Looks like the leak is from the where the shaft goes into the box. That's also about how far down the oil level is now. I suspect the shaft seal.
Is this something a modestly skilled (I can adjust the valves and recently successfully changed out the clutch master and slave) mechanic can fix? Should I just find a new/rebuilt/good used box? Anybody know where I can find one?

the seals/bearings are inexpensive, and can be had fron Blunt or Max.
the $ are going to come from labor in getting the box out, then in.
if you have any mechanical skills, you can "rebuild" the box yourself in a weekend. it's not hard.
any half decent mechanic would have no trouble other than having the right seals/bearings to get it done.
if you do it, i'd recommend replacing the steering shaft flex coupling while you're at it. _________________ gwb72tii
